Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Hopefully the Michigan games have around 3,500 both nights. I would guess Campbell will be back this weekend.

Also we will find tomorrow if UAH will be the (n)WCHA's 10th member.
I was thinking about going up to the Soo this weekend for the UM series but I also want to see Campbell play, so I've decided to wait until he's back for sure. I'll probably head up for the UAF series or perhaps the Miami one.

UAH got admitted to the WCHA and they will be a member next season. Congrats to those guys! I wonder if LSSU voted yes or no?

I'd be extremely surprised if LSSU didn't vote yes. Roque has said on numerous occasions that he was in favor of UAH getting in, and he has also said the administration was for it.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

I believe that Roque has always favored their admission. Actually, the distance to UAH is almost identical as the distance to UNO. They have a veery good facility, including full bars!

Oh good lord I hate Michigan. I need back to back 9-0 games. I don't want to see one simpering, smirking, horse-fanny wolverine in anythng except pain this weekend.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

What's the goalie situation for LSSU? Who is expected to start Friday and who on Saturday? I'm still trying to find a way to make it to Saturday's game..and oddly enough, who will be playing goal factors into my decision.

1. I wouldn't put that score out of the realm of possibility (though both nights probably won't happen)
2. "horse-fanny"? I can't say I've heard that insult before.
3. I feel so loved

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Lakers need to set a goal for tomorrows night game . They must make it impossible for MI TO HAVE NO MORE THEN 45 SHOTS ON GOAL. The problem with this team i is no goals.IF THEY CAN SET A GOAL OF NO MORE THAN 45 SHOTS ON THEM , LAKE STATE will prove they can reach goals.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Lakers didn't come ready to play, mainly the defense. If the defense plays like this again tomorrow, chalk up another Laker defeat. 9th place is breathing down our necks so the Lakers MUST win tommorow!! I actually thought Kapalka played well, the defense let him down.

Oh well, congrats to Bryce Schmitt on his first goal as a Laker. Monardo's penalty shot goal was the first time the Lakers scored on a penalty shot in about 15 years.

Agree. Tonight is a huge game. If they lose tonight, the Lakers would be 3 games under .500 in the CCHA, on the road for a tough series next week at OSU, and frankly I doubt they would get back to .500 (CCHA) if OSU beats them even once.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Great win for the Lakers. Of course, it's important for the standings. But, it's also nice to avoid a home sweep. It's nice to beat U of M. We may not see them again for a long time, especially in the Sault. I loved the way the team finished the game. Laker teams in the past would have went into a defensive shell after taking a 3-2 lead with 13 minutes left in a game. LSSU stayed on the offensive, attacking, and getting lots of good chances. The Lakers out-shot Michigan 17-9 in the 3rd and 38-37 for the game. Great atmosphere with 3,276 in attendance.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

If we do not get one of the byes, we could host either U-M or MSU in the first round. They did play well tonight and Monardo had some good chances to get his hat trick. Nice to see the shots pretty even after getting out shot the previous games.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Huge win tonight!! Probably the most exciting game all season as well. Great game my Monardo, he's inching towards the 100 point plateau for his career. My only gripe that Ciotti needs to get going. He's been pretty quiet lately especially after the hot start he had.

Good news for the Lakers is they are playing OSU next weekend, which is playing some really bad hockey right now. Lakers need to take advantage!

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Great comeback win for the Lakers tonight, Ideally you would have liked to have taken more than 3 from what is in all honesty a pretty crappy Michigan team, but 3 is better than 0 I suppose, and if that is the last time "mighty" Michigan ever skates in the Soo, at least we bid them farewell with a Laker W!

As for some random observations: I agree Ciotti needs to get back going, he was filling the goal scoring void that McParland has been creating (although for his part, Nick has been chipping in a boatload of assists, so that wasn't meant as a slight); the Lakers have scored 3 or more goals in 6 of their last 8 games, hopefully the offense continues to be vigilant, especially this upcoming weekend against an OSU team that has struggled to score goals this year (as an aside is it just me or does it seem like the narrative for every CCHA team outside of Miami and ND is "they don't score much but they have great goaltending/defense"?)

Also check out this comparison

Team A Team B

Overall record 11-10-4 Overall record: 13-12-1

CCHA record: 5-9-4 CCHA record 8-9-1

vs. TUC 7-8-3 vs. TUC 7-6-1

GF-GA against TUC 40-47 (-7) GF-GA against TUC 31-26 (+5)

Also of note, Team A was swept by Team B in their 2 meetings

Team A Pairwise Ranking: 15t Team B Pairwise Ranking: 22t

Team A is Northern Michigan and Team B of course is LSSU...it just doesnt add up in my opinion

Good win but have to lower the shots against. Lakers need shots to beat the goalie Ohio will throw out.

You pay a heavy price when you lose at home to UAH.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Lakers SOS is 37th and NMUs is 10th. That is seriously affecting the Lakers RPI. Also, the Lakers PWR is getting killed by the common opponents factor. I saw 1 or 2 situations in which we won that category, but not very often. That is where that loss to UA-H is coming back to haunt us.

So the Lakers are 10-5 at home --- but a terrible 3-7-1 on the road (overall). So lets get out there and change that around this weekend -- lets get a couple of wins against a foundering OSU team. One win since December 1. That includes a loss to Penn State, and a loss-tie aginst Robert Morris. I don't know the how-and-why of OSU fall. Les go down to Columbus and keep them tumbling.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Ohio is going to be tough with the fact they have a very good goalie and scoring isn't easy for Lake State to begin with. Bowling Green is not going to be a push over either and they are probably playing as good as Lake State as of now if not better. When is Campbell coming back ?
