LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Can't give up 51 shots and 5 goals and expect to win. And they were being outshot 38 to 11 after the second period. For those at the game, were they really being outplayed that bad for the first 2 periods?

I didn't think they were out played in the first period; the score was 2-1 good guys after the 1st period. The second period I felt Miami's speed showed itself, dominating the second period. The 3rd period was up and down; about the time you were ready to give up they would score one. The last 2 weeks Monardo has been doing great; 18 goals now and he is really busting his tail out there. Which you have to appricate and respect.

Let's hope they shoot the puck more tonight. You have to throw it at the net to score.

LET'S GO LAKERS!!!

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Didn't see either game but when you are unranked, hosting the #3 team in the nation - losing by one goal each night does not make you a bad team. Miami is a very good team and those teams have the resources and find ways to win one goal games.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2012-2013, Part 2

Lakers had more shots on goal, but a lot of them were right into the Miami goalie. Most of his saves I thought were easy.

Lakers will probably need at least a split at NMU and Ferris winning one game at Michigan in order to have home ice for the 1st round. It looks it will be either BGSU, NMU, or Michigan for our 1st round opponent. I sure hope we don't have to go to Yost (yuck!).

Gotta say... I was at last nights game. It was nice to see the signs honoring the 5 seniors (sarcasm) .... There is a time and place to say thank you to Bill Crawford for whining about how bad the team has been since 1994. Last night (Senior Night) was NOT IT!!!! Friday ... OK .... NOT SENIOR NIGHT... So classless. It was a night about 10, 12, 15, and 26.... NOT Bill C... I was sad for those 4 boys that their night was soiled by that.

Can the Lakers play good games at times ? Yes. Are the Lakers a good team ? No. Can Murdock and Kapalka play great at times in the nets ? Yes. Are they great goalies ? NO. After 8 years has Roque turned the program around ? No. How many here thought going into the last games of the season that the Lakers would still be fighting not to end up in last place ?

I am not saying whether or not Roque can get the Lakers back to the NCAA tournament, but it took Bob Daniels 20 years at Ferris to make it to the National Championship game.

Bowling Green released it's WCHA schedule. We play them four times, at home November 29-30 and at BGSU January 24-25. The WCHA season doesn't start until November 1, so all October games will be non-conference and from what I know, they are all on the road so far.

I'd be surprised if there isn't at least one home series in October, although there has probably been a lot of schedule juggling with the new nWCHA and the late addition of UAH. Seems like I also remember hearing there would be several road non-conference games on the schedule, but weren't they still trying to schedule a home non-conference series early on? Maybe they haven't had any luck with that yet.

It was nice to see Bill Crawford honored. I am sad to see him retire from the Booth. When he was replaced for half the season a couple years ago don't you remember how terrible his replacement was. Next year we I will most likely have to listen to the road games on the opponents feed.

The team played hard against Miami. They need to play just as hard against Northern because they need points to have the home ice for the first round.

Roque has stated before they are having a really hard time getting a home non-conference series. We know that the Lakers play at Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Union but as of now, no home non-conference games.

I agree that it is sad to see Crawford retire from the booth and he will be missed a lot. I consider him the Ernie Harwell of the EUP. I hope his replacement is a good one.

I always felt the Lakers could play with anyone in the country on a given night; until this year. After last season I really thought they would be playing for a first round bye, not avoiding the basement.

Has Bill Crawford's retirement from the broadcasting booth actually been announced and confirmed? I didn't hear much of the Saturday game. Although I know he's dropped hints about retiring during this season, the last I knew he hadn't decided for sure yet.

I thought VanWagner was o.k. when he replaced Crawford, especially when comparing him to the quality of some of the opponent broadcasters.

I am sure we would still be complaining had someone else replaced Crawford for that season. I remember complaints about Fornes when he called the games for 2-3 years when Borek was the coach.

Roque was expecting a lot more out of this season also. He couldn't have foreseen Campbell missing most of the season due to shoulder surgery, and that has been a big loss to the Lakers, but still the season has been a disappointment.

We also though McParland would have way more than six goals at this point of the season. Of course Jean leaving early was the biggest downfall.
