Here's a link. Click on Listen Live at the right. Pre-game show should be on around 7:35.

They might think about updating the site from time to time and getting a better connection.

Anyone know what happened to Mike Elles? At least we didn't have to hear as much Crawford with him on there for the home games with him on there, plus he knew his stuff.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Great 5-4 win for the Lakers tonight. The officials didn't seem to want LSSU to win this game, but the Lakers persevered. Kyle Jean with the hat trick....haven't seen one of those in a few years.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Really good win by the Lakers tonight with a 5-4 win. They were battling more than Michigan State all game. Here are my thoughts on the game:

-I'm now coining the phrase 'Jean the Machine'. That kid was dominate tonight.

-The officiating is the sole reason I don't care if we never play these Big 10 schools again. It was a complete joke tonight. The only call against MSU was a very obvious checking from behind. Lakers had a great scoring chance, and the ref actually positioned himself in front of the Laker player. It's bad enough they never call interference, but to cause it? These guys must really love their old boss...

-Despite giving up four goals, KK was pretty solid.

-Lakers had some really great scoring chances throughout the game. If they can learn to finish their plays, they can really compete this year.

-Still a little sloppy in their own zone at times. They need to work the puck out better.

-Fun game to watch, though, and good to be back at the rink.

Great game tonight. Congrats to Jean on the hat trick. He's the first Laker player to have a hat trick at home since Ben Keup in 1999.

I agree the refs were horrible tonight. The favoritism towards Big 10 schools is ridiculous.

Kapalka was solid, minus the goal he gave up 13 or so seconds in the game.

I think all the freshmen looked good last night Ciotti and Perfetto sp? in particular. Jean had a great game and looks like he put in a ton of work during the off season but i think McParland looked awsome as well nice to see with no more Schoey and Acton to lean on.

I think Perkovich had a hat trick during the consolation game at Joe Louis against the Spartans back in March of 2007.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Possible but not likely, unless someone has donated some extra money to the program. For the Lakers, western Canada generally means the SJHL or once in a while the AJHL or MJHL. On the other hand, if Laprade has some connections in the BCHL I suppose he could be out there.

As I was looking at this year's NMU roster, I remembered this post. Interestingly enough, NMU has 4 freshman from out in BC this year. That's a larger amount than I would have thought.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Great start to the season for coach Jim Roque and his Lakers. 4-0 for the first time in over 15 years. With Bowling Green coming up there next weekend 6-0 is a big possibility. I think the coach should be in the running for an early candidate for Coach of the Year. Way to go Lakers and it sounded like a big crowd.

Still lots of issues with the online feed. I wish they would get their act together at the radio station up there. How many more times are us out of town fans going to have to put up with the same excuses week after week.

Go Lakers

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Another solid game by the Lakers. More garbage officiating, but a great crowd for the Lakers sweep. Lets keep it up next weekend. Listening to the radio on the way home, they said it's the largest crowd in five years or something. All I know is that finding a parking space was pain in the ***** all weekend.

Northern does a fair amount of recruiting in the BCHL and has for a number of years. They likely have some established contacts out there and I would think have a bigger recruiting budget than LSSU. They choose to make that league one of their primary recruiting grounds. By contrast, Northern doesn't generally go East when recruiting. They don't have anyone from the OJHL or CJHL on their roster.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

I listened to almost all of the game and had no problems with the feed. Never dropped and no intermittent delays.
I didn't catch all the game, but the sound did disappear for several seconds when Bill Crawford was talking to Dean Dixon between the 1st and 2nd periods.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Does anyone know if Kelin Ainsworth has been a healthy scratch for the first four games, or is he injured?

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Another solid game for the Lakers. Nice to see Campbell get a pair of goals. Hopefully he can have a breakout year and be the player we expected him to be. Hopefully the Lakers don't let up against Bowling Green. If the Lakers have a lackluster performance next weekend, it might bite them in the butt at the end of the regular season.

A great start for all three Yooper schools. LSSU 4-0, Tech 4-0, NMU 3-1, with both LSSU and Tech sweeping Big 10 schools this weekend. Love it!!

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Bill: After watching the first four games you can't agrue with the freshmen who are playing. All are contributing good minutes and some on scoresheet. Lakers are running four lines and none have looked over matched to this point. Sorry, do not know, however, if KA is hurt or not.

Laker fans, if you haven't heard it, you should find the between period (after 1st) interview of the Friday night MSU game Bill C had with Dave McNabb, Sr VP Hockey Operations with the Anahiem Ducks. He was at game watching the Ducks draft pick Perlini. Interview talked about Perlini, then Schofield, then McNabb's impression of Laker team after one period. He was impressed.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Great job Lakers! We did make it Friday night and enjoyed a close game. It sounds like last night's game was another good game.

Although I tend to agree about the officiating. My opinion on officiating in any sport is they should call the game even, no one is perfect. Although you would would have thought MSU was with a 6-2 advantage in power plays. It was nice the put their whistles in their pockets and let them play the last 2 minutes and not change the out come of the game.

It is good the see them get off to a good start for the season.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Nice start to the season. A pleasant surprise. Go Lakers

And how about Tech handing it to Wiscy?
