LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Less than a month away until the season starts, can't wait. Scoring will be the main concern. Other than Monardo, I don't know who else will score. At least defense and goaltending should be solid. Who will be the #2 goalie behind Kapalka? Ravn or Murdock?

Seems to have been decided long time ago. Ask 3dognight.
By the way, what are the milestones until the Norris Center Project completion ?

I believe that Murdock is the backup.

Jean, Campbell, and Lain will really have to step up offensively. Hopefully they all had productive summers in the weight room.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Radke and McParland should step it up some also. Dommett sounds like he is going to be a good one. Only one month away.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Simply paperwork for this phase of the project, through the season.
State of Mich, Univ., builders, permits, lawyers, accountants, architects, budgets, plans...blah, blah blah Not the most exciting stuff, eh?

Glad to see Ravn spent some of the summer with Steve McKitchen, I will be interested in seeing how things work out.
I am hoping we get a solid 1&2 out of things.....the Lakers will need this position to be rock solid.

And it did appear unlikely that they would be able to get into the WCHA, for many of the reasons I had stated

Seems your reasons were flimsy.

Tell me Neil, how certain were you that LSSU WOULD get into the WCHA prior to the announcement?

I thought it was a 50/50 chance. You, on the other hand, gave it about a one percent chance.

I was glad that they were able to get in

Please.[/QUOTE]

So if the reasons were "flimsy," why did you only feel a 50/50 chance for LSSU to get it? Why did you not feel it to be a slam dunk? You must remember the WCHA initially stated a desire to be an 8 team league. What do you think were the objections to LSSU being one of the 8?

As for the "Please," I am very pleased they got to join. I would much prefer the 3 hour trip to the Soo as opposed to a 9 hour trip to Minnesota. With the addition of Ferris and LSSU, NMU has the most favorable travel set up in the league. I also wanted to see Alabama-Huntsville added to the CCHA a few years back, but understand the objections. I want to win the PowerBall, but I realize that it is unlikely. Just because I recognize and state what the objections may have been, doesn't mean I am against it happening

Because few things in life are a "slam dunk".

Not sure, but I bet you think it's because the Soo is something like eight light-years away from Marquette...give or take a light-year.

Peace. And love.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Have I been missing something ? Bowling Green has made no decision on what they intend to do and I cannot find any postings on here from their fans .

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

I wasn't able to make it to all of the games of the Labor Day Tourney here in the Soo, but I was able to make it to a few of them. Looks like the Laker coaches were checking our Wellington pretty heavily, as was Joe Shawhan who was at the game yesterday afternoon for Northern. It would be good to get another quality recruit from that program (like Derek A. Smith). I didn't see Palumbo or Matteucci on the bench for Traverse City this weekend, either. Neither did I see Tyler Marble dressed for the games I saw. Like I stated, I didn't make it to all of them, though, so maybe he was in the lineup for one of the games I missed. I havn't been able to find any box scores for the tourney, either.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Anthony is no longer the coach and gm for tc. Matteucci is still listed as a asst. coach but they have ainsworth on their roster though, so he may not be coaching with them either.

I think Palumbo still may be the GM at TC. Could be that they've given up on Marble, or that he is injured. He hasn't shown himself capable of holding on to the number one goalie slot at the Junior level, so I wouldn't be surprised if he never plays for the Lakers. Recruiting for next season will need to focus primarily on Defense. The Lakers only have three seniors, Cassiani, Haines, Pobur, two of which are D, so there aren't many players to replace. Even the most guy most likely to leave early for the pros is Trotman, and he's also D; and he might come back for his Senior season.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Bill you may be right but i gave the pietila brothers cousin a ride this summer and i thought he said that Polumbo was out and he had no reason why other then this coming season may be their last in TC with the financial situation of the team.

Also Ainsworth was taken off TC's roster on their website.

As far as Marble i don"t think he will ever come to play at Lake State.

I didn't know that Dallas Drake was an assistant coach at Traverse City and they have Polumbo listed as GM . Marble isn't on the roster .

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Dallas Drake is part owner of the Traverse City North Stars. Maybe he's going to help out a little behind the bench also. The last I knew, Palumbo was still the GM, but that info is about a month old.

There's an on-line petition over on the UAH thread in support of saving the UAH Hockey program. I encourage all college hockey fans to sign it.

Yeah, that's what the roster I picked up this weekend states, too. It lists Matteucci as Associate Head Coach, so I thought we'd see him up here. We were in a lot of CJ classes together, so it would have been nice to catch up. Even if Marble was on the TC roster, I don't know where he'd fit in on a team with three sophomore goalies. All together there was some good hockey played over the weekend...I can't wait for October, though.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

We went down for a game near the end of their season and all of the Dallas Drake things were taken down. I don't think he is a part owner any more on the news they only refer to a lady as the owner. They have a nice product they put on the ice and nice perks i was suprised at the low attendance.

Re: LSSU Laker Hockey 2011-12

Radke heading to Denver for hip surgery this morning. I hope it's not too bad, and he can salvage some of this season. This will be a loss for the Lakers, as I had him pegged for a second or third line player who would help offensively. He'll be back for the Blue Liners picnic this Sunday, so hopefully will know more then. All the best to him. This opens up another spot for one of the freshman maybe to step in, though.
