Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

I wish truth was back. I would rather read his same old same over and over again than fantasies that are being posted over and over again by pink pony . Truth may not have any friends on here but what he says is pretty much right in the way everything has been heading with Laker hockey. I do give him that.

Thank you, it's good to see one intelligent fair minded person on here. So I guess Jim Roque isn't going to be coaching for the Buffalo Sabres. Did you Roque apologists actually believe that? I know you uppers up there aren't the sharpest tools in the shed in my experience up there a while back, but that might have been excuse yet for this coach that he was qualified to coach in the NHL. Get real!

The last 8 seasons have seen finishes in the lower half of the standings, second half collapses, early playoff exits, inconsistent play from Friday to Saturday, attendance dropping each season, playoff crowds in the hundreds, off ice incidents with players disappearing off of rosters, promises broken, incidents with linesman who are cops, administration who doesn't listen or care to any complaints against this coach, and excuse after excuse after excuse after excuse after excuse after excuse for going on nine years running. I am not the one that says this year will be different, I am not the one insane enough to think after 8 years it will be any different. Your little college is falling deeper and deeper into obscurity not only nationwide but in your little village. And with "unnamed donor" friends of Jimbo, and his vitriolic apologists that flood this fan forum, it will be more of the same this year and the next and the next and the next and the next and the next.

Argue any of those points, you can't so you have to deflect attention elsewhere, like to other scoreboards and exhibition games. No coat of paint for the empty seats or gondolas are going to change things with this coach. You people up there are priceless and so predictable.

There has never been a direct link between the donors and Jim Roque. That is something you created in your mind.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Good to have you back Mr. Truth Squad. I would rather read your posts than the other stuff. You could leave the U.P. slams out of it though. More of us side with you than go the other way.

I hope Mrs. Pink Pony gets it now. When I post I like to ask questions with the hope of getting answers such as the renovation project and coaching updates. I know that those that support Coach Roque on here are kept informed but no-one wants to pipe in regarding things like what actually happened in Buffalo. Why is this a private matter? Why is the renovation considered a private matter? Why is the length of Coach Roque's contract considered a private matter?

We ask these questions and get no answers. I personally have no interest in beer sales at the rink or a scoreboard in Houghton. Coach Roque supporters would do a general service if they got his approval to inject some meaningful insight onto the important things involving Laker Hockey. Just my opinion I guess.

Speaking of tools that need sharpening, maybe you could learn to spell Yooper correctly after all these years of vitriol. Then again, probably not. And you'll probably delete this post too. :D

Although I agree with you in the sense it would be nice to know about the important topics, the facts are this:
-Contract talk between Coach Roque and the Buffalo Sabres is a private matter. Although I feel he has a moral obligation to inform LSSU if that is, in fact, occuring, he has absolutely no requirement to divulge any of that information to anyone.
-The renovation is, indeed, a private matter between the LSSU Foundation and the donor. They are not required by law to divulge anything other than the amount of the gift and the nature of it's intended use (see FOIA), which they have done.

3dognight - I believe you were referencing my post when I said I would be furious if the project did not go in July. I would like to sincerely apologize, as I believe that was taken out of context. I would be upset that certain individuals close to the project would mislead me by saying that it was for sure a go in July, if that is not truly the case. I am, however, definitely appreciative of the fact that you and everyone else involved would donate such a large gift to LSSU, no matter when the project starts. Regardless of the when/what/how of the project, I will always remain truly blessed to be apart of the Laker family and appreciate what others do to sustain and grow our great University.

Is there anyone on here that knows the full Buffalo story? Maybe, maybe not. I don't. Maybe some in the Soo do, although even that may be a case of no one other than Roque himself. It's obviously plausible that Ron Rolston could have offered Roque a job as assistant coach, or at least made an inquiry to see if he was interested. If Rolston offered Roque the job, maybe it has to get approved by Sabres management and they balked. On the other hand, a couple of assistant coach positions are still open at Buffalo so we don't yet know the end result. Rolston reportedly stated that he anticipated filling the positions by mid-May but that hasn't happened. Maybe he's made tentative selections and is awaiting an OK from management. Maybe some of the guys he's been in touch with have indicated they aren't interested. Maybe he's still looking at candidates. It could be any one of a number of reasons. Regardless, if some type of negotiations are still underway to fill the assistant coach positions at Buffalo, I don't have any problem with that being a private matter. I would expect it to be so. Sure, sometimes a little info leaks out to the public, but that doesn't change the fact that this is basically a private matter until an official announcement is made.

As far as the Norris Center Project goes, a private group is a making a large financial commitment to LSSU sports, largely hockey oriented, and if they prefer to keep much of the ongoing process private, I don't see anything wrong with that. I'm just happy they have made that commitment and are in the process of following through on it.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

I would have to think that Roque knows he has not met very many if any expectations that the school and fans expected from him when he took over as coach. I would therefore assume that heading into his 9th season with possibly the worse team of his head coaching career , Roque would snatch up a job in the NHL with his buddy Rolston.

If you keep wearing your blinders and say that enough times you will start believing that!!!!

Then please show evidence. If you know there is a link, then you must know who the donors are, right. Just put it up there. Share your insight.

The Lakers have played Laurentian many times over the years although it has been quite some time since they last played. Laurentian dropped hockey as a varsity sport somewhere around 2000 I think, and is restarting the program this coming season.

According to the Laker media guide that I have, the Lakers last played Larentian on November 19, 1992. It sucks it's on a Tuesday though. Might be lucky to get 1,000 people.

If only he knew about the grammar and spell check options, he would not even need to learn how to spell correctly.

It's hard to find evidence when your looking through binoculars from across the Straits.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Does anyone really care who the donors are and whom ever it may be ,isn't it their choice to tell or not. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth .

No, no one cares. But you can't make accusations about donors being buddy buddy with the coach and insinuating that a stipulation of a donation is to keep the current coach here without showing some sort of proof. That is what davyd83 is saying.

It's pretty tough for Truthy to know whats going on from where he is located. It's not about who the donor is, again, no one cares about names.

The key is the IGNORE feature which is happily provided with this message board by the administrators of USCHO. I set my system to ignore all of truthy's many manifestations, and it is wonderful. I only seehis postings when they are reproduced in responses by fellow-posters .

I might suggest that many of my Laker friends who contribute to this wonderful message board seriously consider formally IGNORING truthy.

It is waste of time to constantly follow this rube down the rabbit hole. He has not posted anything different in over a year. Why engage this person? He hates Jim Roque -- we get it. We all know it. We've all heard it. The only thing sillier than arguing with Truthy about his inane belief system -- is arguing with each other about Truthy's inane belief system.

Understand this simple set of facts: There are people who wish to see a new coach behind the bench at LSSU, and all of those people's opinions are based in large part upon the belief that te team could be better with a new coach. Truthy's problems with Jim Roque are intensely personal, filled with hate and emotional dislike, and as such are irrational. Just because you may agree with Truthy that a change is needed behind the bench at LSSU, do not be fooled: He is not on your side, and he is not your ally, and he has nothing new to say about LSSU. He hates Jim Roque -- personally. He could not care less whether LSSU finishes first, last, or folds its program -- as long as Jim Roque is harmed in the process. Don't confuse "supporting LSSU" with Truthy's one-note-song. One is the product of support for the school and program -- the other is the product of pyschological illness.

Ergo -- why follow a mentally ill psychopath, heck-bent on mouth-frothing revenge, down a rabbit hole?

Ignore the jerk.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Bill I agree that no-one has to provide any comment on any news worthy issues but these are what interest me. To post on this thread about the MTU Ice Arena renovation while ours has an off limits status makes no sense to me. This project was a big deal for the future of Laker Hockey when it was announced years back. What has changed?
The most polarizing topic in Laker Hockey is Coach Roque. It was reported that he had a job offer by his friend Coach Rolston and the Buffalo Sabres. If this is on-going I understand the silence but Coach Roques friends say he is not leaving. Is it not a positive that he had an NHL offer. Why not let us know what happened instead of bringing up the coaching issues at UAA, UAH or Maine? That’s all I’m saying.

Laker hockey is in good hands with Coach Roque, he is not going anywhere which good. As for the project I am excited to see the Lakers will be on the par of the other WCHA teams when the project is done.

You couldnt ask for a better future for the Lakers program. New league, a coach with many years under his belt ready to tackle similar schools, and great renovation project.

I cant wait for October when the puck drops for the WCHA. Hope to see Dave at rink near you.
