Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Except that D-1 teams can't play exhibitions against one another.

What about the US Hall of Fame game isnt that between an exhibition game against each other. I dont know if they play this anymore.

Looking at the attendence numbers of the LSSU, NMU and MTU and what places they have finished it would be great to bring back some of those old season ticket holders to these teams and this would make some intrest from some old fans as the Old WCHA and CCHA could be played again. Old Uniforms, old coaches and old stadiums. Retro style.

It would be nice if the teams could play exhibitions in these old rinks you mentioned like the Pullar or the Dee.

I have never been to the Pullar but I read about on the internet.

It would be cool if they could play exhibitions at the Dee, Pullar, and Lakeview with rivals and wear old uniforms and invite the coaches who coached the teams from the 1970's back to help coach the teams and have Ron Mason coach LSSU. Rick Comley coach NMU and Dan Farrell coach MTU since the old MTU HC is dead.

These games would be more exciting then the 13-0 scores of playing exciting Canadian college teams to begin the season.

The WCHA and CCHA could be relieved for one more night by playing these kind of exhibitions in early October to bring the old fans back to where it started at the Pullar, Dee, and Lakeview.

Tech has intersquads at the Dee and Coliseum

The Hall of Fame game is not an exhibition. It counts in the NCAA records. It is exempt from you game count, just like games in Alaska. For someone who knows everything, you sure don't know much.

I would like games between NMU/MTU/LSSU played at the old arenas the Lakeview/Pullar/Dee.

So you'd take that crowd if 3800 for a Tech-NMU game at the Ice Arena and turn it into 1200 at the Dee? Lakeview now seats anout 2200 and the seats on the bench side are lousy. The Pullar, less than half the seating of the Taffy. Wow, what a brilliant idea. Have you applied for a marketing job?

Most of the teams are lucky to get 2000 fans when they play each other.

Actually, you are dead wrong. NMU/Tech on a Tuesday in Marquette drew 3509 last year.. 2653 on a Tuesday in Houghton. The prior year, playing weekend dates, 3880 in Marquette playing on Christmas break and 3708 in Houghton. The only time there have been low crowds is playing on Christmas break in the Soo. Yeah, let's play Tech-NMU at the Dee and shut out twice as many fans as we let in. To quote Rapidcity, "Brilliant!"

LSSU/NMU do not need to (and shouldn't) play games at Pullar/Lakeview. Pink Pony, time to get in touch with reality.

And still cut your crowd by 2/3. And yeah, I'm sure ESPN would be right there. Sports Illustrated too.

The Pullar is one of oldest rinks in Michigan.
Also, didn't the Detroit Red Wings have training camp in the Soo.

The rink is like no other rink in the country just by it's oldness other then the rink in Calumet.

Most rinks are modern and not many old rinks left around anymore.

It still makes no sense to cut your crowd by more than half, especially for one of your biggest rivals.

Positive PR.
Denying more than half of your fans a chance to see a UP rival creates positive PR? Really? ESPN isn't going to be there. Fox Sports Net isn't going to be there. You may get an inch in the Free Press. You may get a shot of the arena on a weekly WCHA highlight show, oh, but they'd have those highlights anyway. The revenue you lose and the fans you would upset would in no way be made up by the "PR."

There are few posters more clueless than Pink Pony. Most of his posts come from the south end while he's north bound.

Even as extra NC games wouldn't hurt.

Saves on travel costs for NC games as NMU/LSSU are traveling a lot for NC games this would save money and add to some positive PR and to add to the rivals the fans will be right on top of the action because of the old rinks being utilized.

Save lots money on road trips. Madison means hotels and bus.

And then Wisconsin plays at NMU in Green Bay. That weekend generates big money for NMU. And you don't generate positive PR by locking out 1/2 to 2/3 of your fans for any game against a big rival. Lock out 1,500 fans at $16 bucks a head and that costs you more than bus, hotel and meals for the team on a trip to Madison.
