Now thats all the Lakers need is a new coaching staff, Hopefully Roque gets third assistant coach at Buffalo. Then if Roque leaves maybe some of the alumini who are not big Jim Roque fans will donate so we can get a new staff and a fresh new start.
I think the difference is that Coach Hously has a successful background. I am glad that some of Coach Roques ardent supporters are now coming up with some quality names of replacements. It tells me two things. One, they are not spending time defending Coach Roque which means he may actually be leaving. Two, at the very worst they have changed their thinking and feel LSSU could be a destination point for a quality Coach. How can you say this when Phil Housley was considered for the job and all he was a High School Coach looking to get back into the pros.
You are wrong about them looking for a Minor league coach.
Coaches come from many backgrounds to the NHL Andy Murray went from coaching Midget AAA at SSM in Minnesota to the NHL as a HC.
Do you have a link to a story indicating that Phil Housley was actually considered by Ron Rolston? Certainly there was speculation that Housley might get an AC job with Buffalo, but speculation is different from being considered or interviewed. How can you say this when Phil Housley was considered for the job and all he was a High School Coach looking to get back into the pros.

OK, but I'm not looking for "speculation".Bill
I will have to google the article but in it said that Blashill and Housley were up for the running for the AC for the Buffalo Sabers.
Phil Housley took the AC job for Nashville Pretadors instead.
And obviouslly Jeff Blashill is coaching Grand Rapids for the Detroit Red Wings AHL team.
Far as Im concerned the two Buffalo Sabers AC positions are not filled with coaches till this happens the subject of Roque going to Buffalo will not die,
I think what the article said is that Phil Housley and Jeff Blashill along with Nate Leaman Head Coach at Providence and Cassidy who was Coach Rolston's assistant in Rochester all had a history of Coaching with Coach Roston in the past. I never read anywhere on-line that these individuals were being considered for the job.Bill

My sources tell me that Soverign communications got the contract to broadcast Laker Hockey, so Bill Crawford will be back.

Davy,That article was speculation by a blogger. Nothing was attributed to Blashill, Housley or any member of the Sabres organization, not even "sources who wish to remain anonymous" were quoted. All it was were names and analysis of some people the writer thought may be good candidates. I could post an article saying I think the Pony, the Truth Sisters and Rapids City would be good candidates and it would be every bit as credible. No fact. Just opinion. And in case you missed it, the Sabres can't even talk to or about Blashill without the Red Wings permission. I highly doubt the Sabres would ask, nor would the Wings allow talk while he is coaching in the AHL Western Conference Finals.
It's not a lot of people; it's Pink Pony who also seems to think money grows on trees. Why does a lot of people keep saying Doug Weight has to donate to the University? A gift is a gift for a reason. Just because he made some money in his career does not mean he is obligated to donate back. If he feels the desire to give back, great. If not, we shouldn't chastise him for having a different use for his funds. It's not Doug Weight's job to fund program changes.
You seem to think no one at LSSU talks to Weight and that he hasn't or doesn't contribute. Who have you talked to in the LSSU athletic department? Or do you base your crap on message board banter and then assume?Doug Weight has came through in past. Why not now?
He is one of the most accomplished alumni and recognized by USA hockey. He's a proven winner and he should be approached to help LSSU hocke.
If read MTUs blog their most famous hockey player of all time Tony Espisito "Mr Zero" doesn't want anything to do with that University.
Tony O is rated as the best goalie of the WCHA of all time.
My point is you want your most accomplished player to stay affiliated with your program.
Doug Weight is well respected and he is what LSSU should be striving for as a trademark for LSSU hockey.
You want a recruit to come in and say "I wnar a NHL career like Doug Weight". These young players need a role model and Mr Weight should be it.
As an outsider looking in I don't know.
