Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Roque likes it so much in the Soo that he tried for the Clarkson job a few years back. The guy who reported Roque was leaving did not just pull that out of thin air . I am also sure that Roque was not even on that guys radar .

I'm sure there is more to this than what little Jimmy boy is saying....he's probably negotiating his contract with the Sabres as I type this and an official announcement should be coming forth any day....at least I hope so cause he really does need to go!

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Frank was his own worse enemy and we all know that . But in all honesty , Frank took over a team that was void in talent and lacked conditioning and strength and he let half the team leave when he took over. Roques best two years were with the team he took over from Frank that had strength and conditioning and was beginning to bring in solid players. Had Frank stayed would the team gotten back to being a tough team to play and beat , probably . Frank saved the program and not Roque. Do I want to see Frank back ,no , and why,he just wears you out with all the drama that seems to follow him .

I'm not saying Frank shoul be considered I was just trying to make a point about him only wanting a proven winner to be JR's replacement. LSSULaker889294 said he doesn't want Joe Shawhan because he's not a winner after he was a winner in the Soo with the Indians, I find that strange.

Shawhan certainly should be viewed as a viable candidate but I wonder if he really would move back here.

I think the same thing may be going on as well. After all hasn't Dave made the comment that it's all about the Benjamins and Dave can attest the Buffalo Sabers towel boy makes more then our head coach makes.

Please Jim take the job and thank you for your contributions to Laker Hockey.

Yes he was a great head coach at the NAHL level but it might not translate to DI head coach success. Look at Scott Borek, a winner as a DI assistant but things haven't worked out as a DI coach thus far. Maybe my standards are too high. Like Davy said earlier, LSSU probably wouldn't have the $$$ to hire a proven winner.

It depends who we hire. If we hire someone that really sucks and go back to Anzalone II records, we might wish Roque never left. Let's hope that doesn't happen though and we can hire a proven winner.

EDIT: Report of Roque leaving is probably bogus.

Don't bet the farm on bogus.

I hope this is true about Jim Roque because its time for him to go, actually its time for Christian, and Laprade to also leave. That would be awsome for a whole new coaching staff, new ideas, new fans, and a new attitude about Laker Hockey. Maybe I will buy season tickets again.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Now is the time to hear from Mrs. Lakers2glory or better yet Mr. 3dognight about how this impacts the $5M renovation. Let’s get on with a national search and really find out after all these years who really has an interest.

You really think that renovation is happening?? We haven't heard from 3dogger in over a year, there is nothing posted on the Laker athletic site, the over sized poster of the "future of Laker Athletics" was torn down and there was no posting of any tender bids....it really doesn't look good and surprise surprise wouldn't you know it that there are now rumors of Jimmy's departure...I'd be willing to forgo the renos if it means getting rid of Roque anyway.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Lake Superior will be very lucky if Jim Roque doesn't take the Buffalo job and stays there. What an good, decent, honest and honorable man, to turn down an NHL coaching job for that college. Year 9 is going to be the best season yet, just you wait!!!

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Jim Roque isn't going anywhere, certainly not coaching in the NHL. You people up there are stuck with him for a while and this is just some attempt by his buddies and relatives on here to divert attention elsewhere.

The Truth Is Out There....

But if he does leave, you could come and set the program back on the way to the NCAA title. You could use your vast knowledge of how to run a hockey team, and you wouldn't even have to pay an assistant because your alter ego sister Truth Serum could be your top aide. Your other assistant could be Frankie A. Get ready for the McNaughton Cup! The Truths are coming!

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

I get tired of the drama that surrounds Coach Roque. All the good people he has trampled on. The colleagues, administrators, players and officials he has abused. The same Clarkson beat writer has twice reported previously that Coach Roque was deep in the search process for the Clarkson job only to have Coach Roque deny publicly that he ever showed interest. Now he has no interest in Buffalo. I hope that the University has been honestly kept informed by our Coach during all these ordeals, especially the past few days. Thanks for your years of service and good luck in Buffalo to you and Mrs. Pink Pony. If in fact this was a rumor, we all have a pretty good idea who started it. It will be completely disgusting if in fact Coach Roque goes to Buffalo after going so overboard denying any contact with the Sabres. Wouldn’t it have been better to just say no comment than to lie?

Mrs. Lakers2glory?

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Who did Cap the reporter from Watertown talk to Mr Rolston?

I was one of the few on here who was fine with Coach Roque as our coach because he brought donors that guaranteed a major improvement to the University. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE STATUS OF THE PROJECT. WHY SO SILENT? As a coach I think he offered very little. He is controversial with less than average results and despite the perception, the program is heading in the wrong direction.
This is why I say that.
Our CCHA record in Coach Anzalone’s final year was 8-14-6 for 22 points and we were showing improvement on the ice. Our CCHA record this year was 11-15-2. If there were no shoot-outs such as next year and points were calculated the same that was good for 24 points. On top of that, the 2004-05 team lost four games in OT where no points were earned. Two ties or a single win and the point totals are identical. We had more CCHA losses this year than we did in Coach Anzalone’s last year. That’s the reality of our state of affairs. On top of that, our cupboard is pretty bare heading forward. Next year is going to be a struggle to say the least and everyone knows it.
To answer the above question, it’s pretty obvious who contacted the writer. Coach Anzalone talked about leaving the first time around and was released of his duties. It’s time to force Coach Roques hand, save some self respect and move in a more positive direction.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Thank god that someone else sees a team coming back next year that has very little talent if any. Roques 8th year . More losses than any year he has coached.
