LSSU hockey 2013-14

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Lakerblue...............it is my understanding that "one and done" schools, and Michigan quickly comes to mind, play "true freshman" as they plan on playing one, if not two years of college before heading off to
the NHL. From my experience, colleges that take players for Midgets/high school hockey without stopping for at least one year of Juniors, aren't doing the student/athlete any favors. A good example from Laker
history is Mike Vigilantte, who came to the Soo as a true freshman directly from the Little Caesars Midget Major AAA team. The only reason he came to the Lakers that early is that we were faced with matching Bowling Green's offer. They were blowing smoke at "Vig's" dad that he was ready for D1 hockey. He wasn't close. It took Mike until his Junior year to catch up to where he should have been if he had played
Juniors. This difficult situation was caused by the Little Caesars Midgets not being taught systems but used raw talent to promote swarm hockey. I heard this directly from college coaches working USA Hockey
camps in Colorado Springs when Matt appeared wearing orange & baby blue gloves. My opinion (and I usually have one) is that if there is any question, play Junior "A" and come in as a 20 year old atudent/athlete.

Rock rumored moving on to the big show.

The Buffalo Sabers have got him so he can reunite with Rolston.

Call Paul Jerrard

Best of luck to Jim and Julia. Sounds like a great opportunity.

Maybe Gwoz wants to live close to his hometown in Thunder Bay.

And our gift to Buffalo Sabres fans and message boarders we introduce Truth Squad and Truth Serum. The Truth is outta there! I'm sure she (they) will suggest the LSSU explore the possibility of Frank 3.0.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Lakers better NOT hire Christian or Shawhan. I have a feeling we could be heading back to Anzalone II records if we hire one of them.

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Great news all the way around (although Buffalo fans may differ after next season)!!! Now we finally have a chance to bring in new blood and steer this program in the right direction. Fans now need to put the heat on the A.D. and make sure that this job isn't just given to someone favored by the administration (like they did for Roque) but launch a national search for the best candidate!

Things may finally be looking up for Laker Hockey because a change in direction was sorely needed!

Re: LSSU hockey 2013-14

Wow...Christmas in May

It depends who we hire. If we hire someone that really sucks and go back to Anzalone II records, we might wish Roque never left. Let's hope that doesn't happen though and we can hire a proven winner.

EDIT: Report of Roque leaving is probably bogus.

Frank was a proven winner when he came in for his second go around.
Why are you so infatuated with the truth sisters?

Frank was his own worse enemy and we all know that . But in all honesty , Frank took over a team that was void in talent and lacked conditioning and strength and he let half the team leave when he took over. Roques best two years were with the team he took over from Frank that had strength and conditioning and was beginning to bring in solid players. Had Frank stayed would the team gotten back to being a tough team to play and beat , probably . Frank saved the program and not Roque. Do I want to see Frank back ,no , and why,he just wears you out with all the drama that seems to follow him .

Well said...I'm convinced that had Frank not acted so foolishly and retained his position as coach, the Lakers would be a much more formidable team today...remember Roque's best year was his first year where the Lakers finished tied for 6th place but unfortunately flopped in the first round of the play-offs...would have been different had Anzalone still been there but as you said, he was (and probably still is) to radioactive.

Very sad that this Roque story might not be true...he claims that he likes it here...well maybe he ought to know that very few here like him as a coach!

Roque likes it so much in the Soo that he tried for the Clarkson job a few years back. The guy who reported Roque was leaving did not just pull that out of thin air . I am also sure that Roque was not even on that guys radar .

Clarkson pays better.

The guy that reported it covers Clarkson hockey, where both Roque and Rolston coached. I'm sure his ears perked for info when Ron got the Buffalo gig.
