It is amazing what my biggest fan Truth Squad/Serum is doing for reviving my great name. However, he's forgetting some of my greatest accomplishments. Including leading my 26 ships to a Dutch victory over Spain in the Battle of Gibraltar and single handily fashioning the air filter than saved the Apollo 13 astronauts.


That is first class spewing.

Four score and seven years ago I, Frank Anzalone, brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Pretty nice day. I got to see the Stanley Cup up close and personal this afternoon. A scout for the LA Kings lives about a mile from me and today was his day for the cup. He brought it over to a local township park and had it on display for folks to come see and take pictures.

They will probably be picked 10th, but I'm sure they will finish in the top 5. Coach Roque and the staff have my full support. I can't wait to cheer on my Lakers!

As everyone knows the Lakers play at Taffy Abel Arena. What no one knows is the influence I had Taffy's career. One time while with my family while traveling through Sault Ste Marie with my family we stayed at his hotel. Well, after an argument with a housekeeper they never put decaffeinated coffee in our room again.

Truthy is almost correct -- for three straight years the Boys finished 10th. I also note that the team's play over the past two years has been a lot of fun to watch. The 2010-2011, and 2011-2012 squads had some great wins andimproved significantly. I also note, with some interest, that Roques teams have never finished as poorly as Frank's first three years.

Its also a sad listing of bottom-half finishes. Obviously, all of us who care about the program and the school want to see the team win every game, and compete for titles, and spread the word about LSSU throughout the nation -- at least the part of the nation that cares about college hockey. There are some really good things coming for this program, including the building program, the money coming into the program, the facilities improvement, and the relocation of the Students to a more prominent location.

We have stability behind the bench and a uniform vision for the hockey program in conjunction with the leadership at the AD's office and in the President's office.

We have a strong group of players who are outstanding community leaders and who are doing well in the classroom without embarassing the school outside the classroom.

Money, stability, facility improvement, quality players. All of this is happening at a very exciting time -- as we move away from the CCHA and into the Yooper-Friendly "Big Snow Conference" of the WCHA.

And more and more alumni continue to step up with donations to improve the school and the program.

As has been mentioned by more level-headed posters here on this message board: Good days (and maybe a few great days) are in LSSU's hockey future. Its a shame that one idiot poster has come on her and dnoe more damage to Frank Anzalone's historical reputation. Nobody who loves and respects the LSSU Hockey Program has anything except love and respect for Frank Anzalone, who is the legitimate Father of LSSU hockey (Ron Mason put the program together, but without Frank's work we would be playing Finlandia and Andrian in D-III right now). Its a shame that one moronic blowhard could spend so much effort defending a terrible period in the program's history, because that moron detracts from all the great things happening with the hockey program that were NOT happening four or five years ago.

Where we are now, compared to where we were four years ago, is night and day.

There is so much upon with to look forward. So many fun nights with a fun, hard working hockey team.

I guess my thoughts on people like Truthy are that they are useful, because they remind us of the petty small minded stupidity that can trap a program and a fan base. Alliances built around personalities can cripple the program. As Scotty Bowman said (and probably repeated millions of times): "Coaches are hired to be fired." (Ironic, since Bowman was the rarest of coaches who retired on his own terms). So people get attached to the coach and take sides, and that bitterness has really spoiled parts of our program. That bitterness, with the exception of this absurd downstate rube, appears to be going away. The proof is clear: More money, more harmony, an exciting future -- and as a result better players.

Truthy gives us a warning to all -- don't get so protective of a coach, or a player, that you lose sight of the program. This happened too many times in LSSU's receent history (which I won't rehash, for the 1,000th time).

So thanks, Truthy -- for being the small minded pathetic Troll you are. You are like a beacon of stupidity flashing against the reef, warning us all -- like a servant in a Roman General's chariot -- that all of this is fleeting.

4. Ferris - Will do better than the pundits think
5. Western - Overrated
6. Lake State - Underrated
7. Ohio

9. BGSU - Will have one of their stronger teams in recent history
10. NMU - Sorry Cats....looks like a tough year
11. Alaska

Amost forgot.....LSSU will get swept by Tech in two close games.

CCHA TV schedule is out. Lakers don't even get one game on TV. Good riddance CCHA.

CCHA tv coverage stinks. It has ever since larry osterman and pass left the region. Now it is merely symbolic of everything wrong witb the ccha. Rot in a nice dark hell, ccha.

Roque stated last season that he thought the Lakers were a year away from being a very good team. I think that at the time he made that statement (early February when they were in Alaska), he knew Trotman wouldn't be back but not that Jean wouldn't be back. In any event, anything lower than 5th or 6th place will be a huge disappointment.

I agree 100%. Although losing Jean really hurts. The team should be very solid defensively. As always . . . just gotta find a way to score some goals. 5-6 place should not be out of the question -- even though it would prepresent a very long-in-coming high water mark.

And I may be wrong, this team might implode. But there just doesn't seem to be any reason to think the boys can't be a top-five team. Last year, they looked so much better -- I have often commented on the much-improved break-out, the crispness of the passes, the forwards moving in stride at center-ice with a good lead pass. The skating is better on this team than any we've had in the past ten years. The hockey-smarts are better on this team than any we've had in the last ten years.

BY hockey smarts, I mean those seemingly simple in-game tasks that set up good plays -- a smart cross-ice dump-in when you see the opposite defenseman crossing over backwards but cheating to the middle. His partner is covering the Laker player trying to get into the zone, and instead of a direct-line dump in, the LSSU player is now making the smart cross-ice dump, knowing that the opposite defenseman has cheated ever so slightly, giving the opposite-side LSSU winger a direct line to the corner. The dump goes past the D-man, along with the winger, and the dumpee-LSSU player swings in behind his charging team-mate. It seems like a small thing -- but for so many years the players were not reading the ice.

Reading the ice is crucial, and sometimes it can't be coached. You can either smell out these small opportunities or you can't. And it has been a pleasure watching this team develop the past two years, with more young kids coming into the program who are "thinking" the plays. Combine that with better skills and fitness, and you have a very enjoyable season (like last year). Just need a few more Wins.

The other thing I liked about last year's team (and, I assume, this year's team) was the conditioning. The players appeared to really take a serious off-season attitude, and the result was sharp shifts and stronger play around the boards. The team just looked stronger.

Of the things I would like to see done better this year: Get ready to play on Friday night. Please. Now I know, some people will put this down to coaching. Maybe that is true. Roque wants his players to be very businesslike. I have never been in the LSSU locker room before a game, but I don't suppose there are too many passionate speeches.

I only get up to the Soo a couple of times a season to see the Lakers play, so although I agree in general that the Lakers have been getting better the past couple of seasons, I don't see them enough to get a good feel for specifics. They may be getting better along the boards, but I think they still need work there.

I really like Colin Campbell's shot. When I saw them lose to Western in Kalamazoo this past March, he let go some terrific wrist shots, getting a goal and clanking another one off the post. After playing less than 100% healthy is 1st season, he really started to show what he can do last season. If he stays healthy, I'm looking for a very good season from him.

Was it last season? Or was it 2006, or was it 2007, or 2008, or 2009, or 2010, or was it 2011???? Ok must be this year of course and the excuses have already started before the season has ever begun. You people never let up.

Fifty-five CCHA games being shown on TV this year and the Lakers are the only team in the league not getting at least one game shown . Nothing like a slap in the face by the league.
