Lowell/BU: Shipping up to Worcester Edition

Re: Lowell/BU: Shipping up to Worcester Edition

I heard that every Saturday in February NESN is doing a Hockey East/Bruins double header kind of deal.

Re: Lowell/BU: Shipping up to Worcester Edition

Did I miss something with NESN/Hockey East? Seems like they switched the game of the week from Friday night (most years) to Saturday night...

I think they just broadcast HEA on the weekend nights when they don't have NHL. Usually, this is more likely to be a Friday night. They don't have the Bruins on either night this weekend, though, so I don't know what the deal is.

The Broo-ins are in WPG on Friday night.

One of the biggest series this weekend ... and it's all quiet in here.

fyp :)

BU has a couple of fan buses for this game. Should be a crazy one!
I don't think Lowell did one anywhere this year (and a current student could correct me?) ... which is too bad. A year or two ago, they put together a bus to BC and I think Lowell pulled off the upset, sounded like they had a great time.

I know from a conversation I had that they were pondering it for Merrimack until they found out that the game was nearly a sellout already. Apparently the final road game at Providence is a possibility.

Yes, there's two buses for students, plus a group of commuter rail people. I believe the group ticket purchase for them all was in the area of 125 or so.

Is Lowell the only other college hockey arena that sells beer in the country?

We are brothers at heart!

I've actually wondered if we were the only two. Lowell just sells better beer than does Agganis. :D

We have Sam Adams, Harpoon IPA and Winter Warmer, Guinness, as well as Bud, Bud Light etc. Problem is I get the impression that Agganis Concessions does not clean the taps very well.

I got that feeling last time I was there as well.

FWIW, Lowell has Guinness, Smithwicks, (variety of) Sam, beers from Lowell Beer Works, and some other micro-brew (**** it, can't remember) ... along with the swill of course.

Now I want a beer.

Tsongas sells Dipping Dots, which are a crime against humanity. Agganis has Brigham's ice cream. So, BU has that over you. And I don't think our pizza is $7 a slice, but quality-wise I think Sal's is better. I still refuse to pay that much for a slice though.

I hate Dipping Dots. I do like fried dough.

Yeah, I'm not sure how much our pizza is... its not very good though so whatever they charge for it is too much!

Is the $7 Sals slice the same as in the Sals resturaunts where a slice is a 1/4 pizza? That would not be quite as bad, but still very expensive!

Yeah, it's easily two slices worth. Not an awful deal.
