Lowell, 2016 Off-Season Thread

Well, as disappointing as it is to have to start this thread about 2 weeks earlier than many of us had hoped ...

Figured I'd put this out there as the squad that should be wearing the Red, White and Blue next year.

16/17 Roster
Defense (9):
Senior: Michael Kapla, Dylan Zink
Juniors: Chris Forney, Tyler Mueller, Tommy Panico
Sophomores: Avni Berisha, Niklas Folin, Jacob Townsend
Freshman: Mattias Goransson

Forwards (17):
Seniors: Evan Campbell, Joe Gambardella
Juniors: Ryan Collins, John Edwardh, Gage Hough, Jake Kamrass, Mike Louria, CJ Smith
Sophomores: Ryan Dmowski, Nick Master, Connor Wilson
Freshmen: Kenny Hausinger, Guillaume LeClerc, Ryan Lohin, Nicholas Marin, Colin O’Neill, James Winkler

Goalies (3):
Sophomores: Sean Cleary, Chris Hernberg
Freshman: Garrett Metcalf

This leaves us at 29 on the roster (28 currently for the 15/16 season), with the class breakdown for 2016/2017 being:
Seniors: 4
Juniors: 9
Sophomores: 8
Freshmen: 8

As I noted in the other thread, the goaltending is going to be the biggest question mark, as long as all the veterans above come back.

Don't forget that next season is Lowell Technological Institute/University of Lowell/UMass Lowell's 50th anniversary hockey season. Hoping that the school will have lots of things planned around this event throughout the season.

Re: Lowell, 2016 Off-Season Thread

Monty, if you can edit it for departures (seniors) that'd be great... I don't always keep track of who is what class

Re: Lowell, 2016 Off-Season Thread

Two pretty good hockey games to watch last night. It should make for a good final between North Dakota and QU. Did any Lowell fans travel to Tampa for the Frozen Four?

Re: Lowell, 2016 Off-Season Thread

Saw Clarkson and SLU are going to play a weekend down in Lowell, anyone have any idea who the other half of the duo is when the two NC teams come down?

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure who the the other team will be. Merrimack would probably be the most obvious, but it looks like SLU and Clarkson visited MC & UNH last season.

So far Lowell's known OOC:

UMD (x2)
@CC (x2)
SLU
Clarkson
Colgate (Dartmouth Tourney)
Dartmouth/ASU (Dartmouth Tourney)
@Umass (Alumni Cup)

Assuming Lowell continues to schedule 17 regular season home games, that leaves two more games for an OOC opponent at the Tsongas, and one more on the road (maybe an RPI return trip?).

This is over a week old at this point, but here is a season ending interview with Norm:

Some interesting highlights:
- Evan Campbell is expected to be recovered from his surgery and available by the first game next season.
- They asked about recruiting and according to Norm they "have some loose ends to tie up, we've got one more guy we're going to bring in." (not clear if that player is for next season).
- Robert Francis has accepted a job to teach business in the Cayman Islands.
- Norm has been appointed to a committee that will look into replacing Notre Dame with another member institution.

Thanks for posting. I wonder if Nicholas Marin is the additional recruit Norm mentions. His commitment was right around the time of this interview.

Re: Francis...

Sounds like a tough life ;)
