Los Angeles 2028 Olympics

No they won't. That's the whole point of the LA bid. I'm as cynical as the next guy. But in this case, LA will do it right.

And besides, they need Paris and LA to do well so they can convince other cities to restart the gravy train. This is the hustler losing a couple of games to draw in new suckers.

Makes sense. Tokyo, Paris, and LA should all do fine. So...Bogotá 2032?

Calumet 2046

There's not enough vertical on the local ski slopes, unless we just agree to suspend the GS+, DH, and Combined events that year. GS and S could probably be done at Bohemia, with some temporary grooming :p. Moguls and aerial events at Ripley. Nordic events would be outstanding - great course options. Hockey prelim rounds at Gipp Arena and the Armory. ;)

Re: Los Angeles 2028 Olympics

Tokyo is already facing overruns...

Everyone has cost overruns. The Olympics is like a consulting gig - the sales guys talk about all the long-term positive economic impact it will have, with hundreds of millions of dollars in spending on infrastructure projects. After everyone's been wined and dined, and the project has been sold, then they hand it off to the engagement manager. The EM runs the numbers and immediately says, "Hey wait a minute, sales only estimated $10 million for a new velodrome - that's going to cost at least $25 million based on the quotes we're getting from contractors!" And so it begins...

Re: Los Angeles 2028 Olympics

starting to see just how popular track and field is (er, "athletics") in the rest of the world. 2 of the sports channels show events all the time.

on review it is like nascar but with slower speeds and the crashes are not as exciting.

Re: Los Angeles 2028 Olympics

LA deserves it but it will be a pity when Paris goes bankrupt.

When we were in Austria there were three different channels showing nothing but skiing. You get good crashes, too.
