The Wisconsin men’s hockey team (19-8-4, 14-7-3 WCHA) will head north to Houghton, Mich., this weekend to battle the Michigan Tech Huskies (5-24-1, 4-20-0 WCHA) in UW’s second-to-last conference series of the regular season.
The No. 3 Badgers got the best of the Huskies twice already this season, outscoring Michigan Tech, 14-2, in a series sweep in December at the Kohl Center. Wisconsin holds the all-time series lead, boasting a 92-44-8 edge over MTU. Wisconsin is unbeaten in its last seven matchups against the Huskies (6-0-1).
The Badgers need just one point in its final four games to clinch home ice for the first round of the WCHA playoffs. The UW currently sits alone at third place in the conference with 31 points. Denver leads the WCHA with 36 points, and St. Cloud State follows the Pioneers with 33 points. However, the Badgers have played two fewer league games than SCSU, so Wisconsin can pass them with at least three points this weekend.
