Pretty creative to use the assassination of one of your own to grift your people.

But not all that shocking given all they have scammed for.

Kind of a riff on this...

Recently learned something and was reminded something about farmers in the US...

First of all, the part I forgot I knew- farmers are almost all millionaires. And I mean the "family" farmer. Especially the ones producing commodities, like grains, soy, and potatoes. When I was growing up in Idaho back 40 years ago, the state was really proud that they had the highest concentration of millionaires per capita than any other state. Because of farms. Commodity farmers can afford to get loans for $500k tractors because they are worth many millions of dollars. Margins may be thin, but they still make huge money off the massive land they work. And grain/soy farmers in the mid west get a HUGE advantage to sell because of the Mississippi/Missouri rivers transporting their goods for cheap in large, large bulk.

So when we are talking "bailing out farmers"- it's almost the same as bailing out a bunch of banks at the same time. They have plenty of money to survive and we are giving out massive corporate welfare to a handful of people.

Second- the part I learned- farmers have a special bail out system of their own, called Chapter 12 bankruptcy. This protects a few million of their assets so that while they go into bankruptcy- they continue to farm as if nothing happened. Meaning that all of this "increase" of filings really will have no impact on farm production. They reorganize, some of the truly weak go under- someone else comes in, gets the land and continues the process. Nothing will change.

And as an added bonus- the same information video pointed out that all of the "struggle" that farmers claim they have has NOT YET HAPPENED. They have not harvested the grain, it's still in the field. So the missed payments can't happen when they have not even sold what they have produced. So lets not get to worried.

Bonus #2- WRT the risk to our food- there is none. Especially for these commodities farmers. All of the farmers at risk are producing goods that we make so very much of that we are exporting it to other countries since it's way, way, way more than the US can consume. There is ZERO risk to the US consumer for getting food. In fact, this should LOWER the cost of food for us, since common fillers should get massively cheaper. I know this isn't going to happen, but that's what real supply and demand should result in.

Bonus #3- for all the whining the cattle ranchers are doing- they are in an interesting position. While they have huge amount of money invested the animals- they also don't have to harvest their goods in fear of if dying in the field. All they really have to do is not invest in getting new young cattle for the ones they sell. Again, the whining is just that. They are in a considerably better situation than grain farmers in that respect. But given we export massive amounts of meat, again- we should actually see a glut of meat on the market and our costs should lower- the whole scream that this risks our food is 100% BS.

Basically farmers totally knew what they were doing voting for the orange moron, and just want to get their piece of the rich bail out scheme going on. They will still support the idiot because they are so much into identity politics. And some of the identity politics will lower the cost of their illegal work force.
