Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

I'm sure it went by the wayside. At least they have the "Back to the Attack" program. I think they are using it for arena improvements at the moment. I know they put in new Tvs around the arena, put in a new student loft and a few other things. They will probably put in money for locker room improvements and a new scoreboard similar to Michigan Tech's.

Back to the Attack is from the same donor. It's going directly to hockey budget, not the arena unfortunately. The Tv's were purchased when Athletics bought the equipment for WCHA TV and the student box was paid for by the student government.

You won't see any arena improvements unless that 5 million comes LSSU's way.

I think that's right. I really wish that our SID would diminish the Alabama on the line chart.

As for this weekend, we'll try to help you as best as we can. We're on the cusp of setting the NCAA season losses mark (Tech has it at 34), and we'd rather not. Also, we haven't beaten a D-I team at home for three years. Those kids want to put up a spot here.

If Roque stays around after all this, well, I just don't know, man.

Where is Bill Wilkinson when we need him???

Seriously . . .. you're the only guy can think of who might actually know. Where is Bill Wilkinson. He was a solid coach at Western and Wayne.

Roque just said on the Laker Hockey Show he put Murdock in to 'spark' the team.
Not sure I believe that....
What does Murdock believe ?
First Roque tells him he will not play on Saturday because he is responsible for the losses when he was in the net
Then Roque tells him to go and tell Kapalka he is out because he is not listening and is letting the team down
Now Murdock hears Roque telling Crawford that he was supposed to spark the team

Last time I heard he was coaching in Australia. His son Pete coached Gaylord HS up until last year.

Geoff - I had the pleasure of going to Huntsville and I can honestly say the place was great. Von Braun Center was very nice and Phil Sandoval's Mexican was pretty good grub. Hopefully we will have a series there again so I can make the trip once more.

Who said Roque told Murdock that? That would be interesting....

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

They've had more than a couple games where they've outdrawn your team. Must be worth talking about.
Maybe you would be willing to help me out finding the thread you started talking about them.
Sounds very interesting.

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

There's no thread, but they drew 4000+ 2 of 3 nights when they played Auburn the other night was around 3200.
Isn't 4000+ more than at least one WCHA team barn holds?
And how much further is Tuscaloosa than Huntsville?
Auburn & Tuscaloosa WCHA teams 11 & 12

It is interesting, but not really a scoop.

Good for Bill. Seriously -- thanks for the info.

I know he worked his tail off to build a fairly respectable Wayne State team with some very decent players and -- as I recall -- never got the funding or support that was promised from the administration at WSU. Too bd. Good guy. I was only half-joking, by the way. I know its too early and frankly absurd to discuss coaching options at LSSU. But Bill is a solid professional. And I know that Mr. Morris was a long-time leading light in the old happy CHA days.

Who will start in net this Friday? My guess is it will be Kapalka unless last Saturday caused too much of a rift.

The only rift I know of is the giant hole Roque has been digging since the mid-year freefall. He must be half way to China by now :D:cool:
