Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

Why don't you just go ahead and let us know the reasons. You look so knowledgeable.
Make sure you tell us where in the coaching 101 manual your see that you help a team winning by refusing a player on a team picture, refusing the same player access to practices and to the bench at home games and preventing still the same player from getting a new equipment as anyone else on the team.
You would do the teammates and the staff a big favor by proving that this has nothing to do with victimization because the situation is very embarrassing.
Although he would have good reasons for just giving Roque a finger, the kid is there to help out the team and the coach who would otherwise have been in trouble, and you call him "The Ravn" in attempt to defend your friend when his respect is questioned.
Do you really mean that being hot in an otherwise pathetic warmup would make a difference regarding ice time in the third period ?
Come on !

At least the college has locked up Jim Roque for many years!!! And the rink renovation and all those bricks are being built. Good things are ahead for Lake Superior with this coach and administration and all the positive signs!!

Not pulling a goalie in a certain situation is defensible; not playing a recruited player over a four-year career, and treating him poorly, is not.

Is that career over yet? I've seen plenty of #3 goalies never see a minute, or get a token appearance. As for being a "recruited" kid, that almost all recruited. They just don't get any money.

As for Saturday, I doubt that I would have risked turning 5-1 into 7 or 8-1. I've seen four goals in 8 minutes on a few occasions. Improbable, yes. Impossible, no.

Ninth place and no playoffs. I hope they get that rink renovation going soon.
The Pullar is going to get the renovation before the Taffey so the Eagles will fly higher then the. Lakers.

Like one of the many Roque supporters on here said, forget season tickets, need everyone to donate thousands or dollars, along with season tickets, and you will see the results. I sure wish 3dognight and his silent partners were around for an update. Usually the flow of information up at the college is pretty good. Very strange!!

Year 10, 11, 12, 13 under Jim Roque will be the best one yet!

When Ravn and Kapalka were recruited they both had impressive junior careers. Ravn had been overtaken by Kapalka when BMW went down and has played well so it's understandable why Kapalka has received the most playing time. The thing that bothers me and I can't understand is why has Roque has treated Ravn so poorly not letting him take part in senior pictures, no new equipment and not letting him dress as the third goalie for home games even when his parents came so far away.

Since you know everything David please shed some light on these strange happenings.

With the 500 a game they're drawing? Last in the league in attendance! Flying high alright.

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

The main reason players leave early is money. A player who has that cash sitting in front of him risks losing it and the corresponding opportunity if he is injured, if the team declines around him and he is unable to match his numbers again. Also, when NHL teams pursue free agents, they go for the openings that are there in their organization now. Is Robinson guaranteed to get the same offer if he waits a year? It's very likely that Czuczman will get a pretty good NHL offer when the season ends. He would be wise to take it. And there wouldn't be much any coach could do to convince him to stay. I don't know who all these high end prospects are that are staying at other schools are, but I do recall Red Berenson a couple years ago bemoaning the increase in the loss of underclassmen and UM was one of the best at retaining them. The key factor has been the most recent NHL CBA. Early departures have gone way up across the board because of it.

Actually we already do. I'd have figured the genius fan like you would realize that Ravn has made 2 appearances and has a sterling 7.69 goals against average and a .750 save percentage.
He has played two 3rd periods in games when the Lakers were playing poorly and getting trounced. Small enough of a sample size to make those stats relatively meaningless.

It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that Czuczman will go pro after this season.

And he gave up 4 in one of them. We've got people who seem to think he's never played and that risking turning a 5-1 game into 8-1 is a good idea. Roque's no genius by any means. But putting Ravn into a shooting gallery would have been ridiculous.

Why do Roques good players always end up in the pros?

Time to recruit some high school players they will stay all four years.

Quick, name all the players who go straight from high school to Division I. I bet some Blue Devils & Trojans & Eskymos would bring the McNaughton cup to the Soo in no time. Maybe Pony and the Truths could head up recruiting. It would definitely get Huntsville out of last place quicker.

James Lambros from Soo High School to Michigan State Spartans.

Ah yes. Went there 20 years ago and never played a game. Build a team around those kind of guys.

Guaranteed to win a cup. The best coaches and recruiters are always in the stands. The guys who couldn't cut it above the pee wee level are the bright ones. They know it all. Look at all those around here (or on the board of any team in any sport) who couldn't make a high school or beer league team that are smarter than coaches, GMs and even players and ADs. It's a shame all this brilliance goes to waste.

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

I think he's pretty much ready to go physically. It probably boils down to whether he mentally feels better about starting again on the road against a weaker opponent or starting again at home against a stronger opponent.

On the show tonight, they said Kapalka will make the trip and play in 1 of the games.
