You'd be getting a young guy to do that, a D-III coach or someone from the junior ranks. I wonder what Dennis Williams would want. He's already seen a dysfunctional program setup at BG.

I bet Mike Corbett likes the cold and snow. He'd like it even more with the $80,000 salary and no incentives deal we'd offer him :D:D:D

His wife is from the UP, but I doubt that would help ya very much. ;)

I think there is a lot of talent out there in coaching that would love a chance to coach at the 1 level of college hockey .

The good USHL coaches would have to take a pay cut to come here. If you want someone proven and qualified assistants, you have to pay the going rate. We're not about to pay it, or give them the tools they need. Don't believe the BS about funding increases for recruiting. Those are about as real as the renovations.

AD Dunbar has done a really good job on many different levels. Track, Cross Country, Basketball, and Tennis have all gotten better than they were before she came.
Mostly agree. Women's basketball hasn't fared so well since she moved from coach to AD, and they really haven't been very good at all the past couple of years. That has to be a huge disappointment to her. Hopefully they've bottomed out and will become a solid team again in future seasons. You have to expect many people to question her decision making capability given that she has stuck with Roque as hockey coach this long.

There has been increased funding to the hockey program the past couple of years; how much I don't know, but at least some of it has gone towards recruiting. It has allowed us to start recruiting again in the BCHL which is generally regarded as the top Junior A league in Canada.

Until we have an AD that makes the only D1 sport we have a priority, nothing will change.

That was the case at Anchorage as well. Hence the brand new multi-million dollar sports arena that includes every sport BUT hockey. Very pleased with our new AD. Do you mind my asking how much LSSU pays their head coach and assistants?

I'm not sure about the assistants, but a figure of 80-85 K has been posted on here before for Roque. I don't know if that figure is accurate.

Re: Lake Superior State Hockey Lakers 2013-2014 (part II)

And UAA paid Matt Thomas $140,000
And Mankato paid Mike Hastings $240,000
And MTU paid Mel Pearson $275,000
And they all paid their assistants well too.
There are two tools schools use to get coaches of that cailbre: Dollars and Cents
Our fine institution doesn't believe in spending Division I money on Division I hockey.

I see some folks make this comment. How do you know they don't? What you are basically say is Roque deserves a raise just to prove they have the money. I have not seen any reason to give him a raise for his poor coaching skills and constantly putting a losing team on the ice.

I was listening to the womens hockey coach for the Olympics the other day and I say try and get her to coach Lake State. She seems to understand the game from offense to defense.

Bonus, Does that mean NMU gets 9th.

I enjoy how you quote your own posts. Why do you keep going back and forth posting as the PinkPony and the TruthSerum? Why not post as TruthSquad? We haven't seen him/her in a long time. I miss TruthSquad.

I think you are a bit confused up there lady. I, like you and the majority of people on here support Jim Roque and his stint as coach. Year 10 will be the best one yet at Lake Superior!!

All of your coaches are state employees, and as such, you'll be able to find out their salaries if you're willing to pull a Suze and do a little digging.
