A Roque fan said “when you fund the bottom of the barrel, you have the bottom of the barrel”. How much they fund is unknown, but we surely have the bottom of the barrel.
Roque won't let Ravn play as long as someone else can stand in the net, whether it hurts the team or not. Murdock and Kapalka becoming unavailable happened in the past and remains a possibility and Roque would then have to resort to using a life-raft he purposely sabotaged.
After being sidelined and bullied for three seasons, Ravn received no equipment this season and his ice time was brought down to one practice, when Murdock had class.
Roque prevented him from being on the senior picture - nobody knows why - and found a fifth goalie to make sure Ravn would have no chance playing.
Roque seems to have backed out a bit, probably under some pressure, but this just gives an insight of what kind of player management you get from the bottom of the barrel; needless to say it has a impact on the team.
The Kapalka example is irrelevant. There was no benefit for Kapalka to play in a such a chaos.
It would be unfair to have the same expectations as for a goalie receiving preferential treatment with a guaranteed game per week, but it would indeed be interesting to see what is left, because he still looks good at practice.
Roque is master at putting forward situations he has created as excuses, and is a genius at manipulating (not only players by the way) and playing in the players' head, but he is obviously at a loss to do it in a harmless or positive way. When players describe him as mad, crazy or insane, don’t expect respect, leadership or consistency.
For some reason opponent teams fortunately give away the Friday game, and start playing on Saturdays; one player scoring in his own net was apparently late at adjusting to the game plan.
You pay peanuts you get monkeys, but who said it has to be mean and nasty ?
What about a finding one who could learn and apply useful tricks and share them with players and fans, for the same price.
