Migration to new forum software

The USCHO Fan Forum will be migrated to the xenForo platform on Tuesday, January 28, starting at about 8 p.m. ET. All current users, forums, and posts will be exported to the new server.

If this is the end, the last 25 years and 101,736 posts have been great, and I'll see you all in Valhalla.

I've been wanting to make this change for years and finally got the go ahead. I've had the server ready for a month and have been testing the import since Saturday. I think we're good.

I haven't really had much involvement on the technical side for the last few seasons and never see any support tickets, so I can only imagine.

The mods are lucky they don't have to deal with the server migration but I imagine they'll have some support to do. About 50 of the 28,000+ user accounts will need some fixes, but I don't know if they are active ones or not.

All 33,000+ threads and 2.8 million posts seem to transfer just fine in testing.

There has been some issues with Xenforo sites of late just an FYI. Not all of them but some became completely dysfunctional after some update a couple weeks ago.

So far so good.

We're running the latest release of xenForo. OpenLiteSpeed 1.8.2 is the web server on Ubuntu 24.04 with MariaDB 15.1 and PHP 8.3.13. Way more current than the old vBulletin server, which had EOL stuff on it.
