We're not all sensitive. I want there and studied business, took one 3 credit agricultural economics class which was actually interesting, my family saved some money relative to other schools that I was thinking of attending, I saw a lot of good hockey, met my wife, drank lots of beer, etc. A good time was had by all in my recollection.:)

If the refereeing sucks like the ECAC then yes it is the ECAC of the West but I can't imagine the officiating being any worse than in the ECAC.

Obviously, the original point was:

CCHA:WCHA::ECAC:Hockey East

Now, my introduction to college hockey was through the ECAC, so I am a little biased. But clearly, in terms of on-ice success, the comparison is not fair to the CCHA. Given the constant presence of the CCHA in the Frozen Four since 2007 (MSU; Michigan and Notre Dame; Miami; Miami), the CCHA obviously has a higher level of success.

I also don't think there should be any debate about academics. If you try to use a few posters to try to cast aspersions on the academic quality of an entire group of schools, you're only kidding yourself. This is not to say anything against the schools in the CCHA, but the survey data is pretty conclusive.

ANYWAY, I will say that the look and feel of Oxford, OH remind me a lot of Hanover, NH, where I spent four great years.

It's also worth noting that the Hontvets and Kolariks both had sons playing for rival schools in the two conferences: Tyler Kolarik at Harvard and Chris Hontvet at Dartmouth in the ECAC, and Chad Kolarik at Michigan and Chad Hontvet at MSU. Take from that what you will, along with the fact that Justin Tobe disappointed at both Harvard and MSU.

Not that any of this has anything to do with the debate - I personally think it's a silly question - but fun to talk about nonetheless.

That should be a huge indicator who is better.

My ballot, but I'm biased is the CCHA. With the likes of Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Notre Dame. The television coverage of Fox Sports Detroit, Fox Sports Detroit Plus, CBS College Sports, Comcast Local, ESPNU, Big Ten Network, Ohio News Network (ONN), Buckeye Cable, (Toronto Maple) Leafs TV, NHL Network... maximizes the CCHA conference.

Hey College Hockey Fans,

I took the time to do some research. Here is what I have found so far:


Most NCAA Bids (CCHA Wins):

CCHA: 111 NCAA Bids/12 = 9.25 per team

ECAC: 103 NCAA Bids/12 = 8.58 per team.



Most NCAA Championships (CCHA Wins):

CCHA: 17 NCAA Championships

ECAC: 5 NCAA Championships


Most Players in the NHL (CCHA Wins):

CCHA: 76 Players in the NHL (2008-2009)

ECAC: 26 Players in the NHL (2009-2010)



As of right now, the CCHA is on a far greater level than the ECAC and the two should not even be compared. I will continue research on Attendance and Conference Records.

In text, some may not be able to tell. I would like to say it was sarcastic based on the fact that you are from the ECAC area.

how about in ratio comaparing the ccha to the wcha, and ecac to hockey east, and don't forget most of ccha National championships were won in the wcha.

That may be true, but all I am saying is the CCHA is definitely better than the ECAC. I cannot believe they were even compared in a thread.

I'd actually like to see the comparison from the CCHA to the Hockey East...or even all four leagues. If I find time, I might do that one day.

I'm guessing you're counting the Michigan, Michigan State and Northern Michigan titles that were actually won in the WCHA.

He's also apparently counting all of those NCAA bids that took place in the WCHA, and discounting the Hockey East teams that were part of the ECAC.

Which goes to show that he doesn't know jack about what he's talking about.

Is the CCHA a better all around conference than the ECAC right now? Yes.
Is the CCHA the ECAC of the West? Yes it is.

Welcome AspyFan! I agree with you, the officiating in the ECAC is atrocious. Unfortunately, the CCHA officiating is not nearly as bad.

Our conference has faced many challenges recently. Although it is tempting for our conference to retire to spend more time with its family, it will continue to compete in the national arena. Our conference has no other comment at this time.

Your last sentence if only valid if you are a CCHA team. Those GLI refs last year were the biggest homers ever.
