Yes. Multi-year season ticket holders' orders will be filled first, one-year holders next then when all of those have been filled, brand new ticket purchasers will get their orders filled. Brand new purchasers can fill out the forms beginning July 7th, but they won't be filled til after the others are. I wouldn't panic if your order form doesn't come quickly as this is also the time of year the ticket office fills the FB orders, and we all know that FB is lordgodking on campus. For the time being, anyway. ;)

Change the first series with WMU to the Tuesdays surrounding BC for a scenario I didn't expect and add in two exhibitions (one of which should be pretty decent). And, save for a few already set and changes made for t.v., ND will be starting their home games at 7:00.

First practice will be October 1st. First game situation will be October 2nd. First anticipation for the new season will be...now.

It's the first day of July. That means there are only 14 weeks til the season begins. Less than that to speculate on captains (the future Mark Van Guilders), break-out players (the future Ryan Guentzels), dynamic freshmen (the future T.J. Tynans and Anders Lees) and expectations for the season (mine are huge). Existing season ticket holders have a month to pay for their tickets. New fans can order theirs in a week.

Christian Hanson is a free agent. Will he re-sign with the Leafs or will he end up somewhere else? While he had great success with the Marlies, I don't like how the Leafs utilized him.

I'll still wear my Hanson jersey with lust in my heart, but I won't mind the possibility at all of him signing with someone else. The player who briefly replaced Christian in my drool bucket (Calle Ridderwall for those of you who have just joined us) is at the Leafs camp. Good luck to him.

Fine with me. I hope he signs somewhere that I won't have to use my passport to see him play. It costs money to add more pages to a passport.

Wednesday, July 13th from 5-7 at the ticket office will be a "Season ticket event." Coach Jackson and some players will be on hand. I like the fact that season ticket holders get a few perks this season (a free skate voucher, monthly Q & A with Coach Jackson, an open house at the CFIA and some sort of a CFIA gift). The only gift I want is a national championship banner, but I'll take a pint glass in the meantime.

So Im debating with myself about my new location for my tickets. Right now Im in section 14 row 2 on the aisle towards 13. Im used to being on the glass so that is a good area for that but I still kinda want to sit up higher. Maybe behind the bench (do the players get in your line of sight?) or someplace else. Any last minute suggestions? Moving to a new place where no one knows anything about the seat sight lines & stuff is more stressful than i had thought.

I have never been a fan of sitting right on the boards (kind of akin to sitting in the first row at Talledega...). I had seats behind the bench when I was younger but those are extremely ObsView seats and I would never recommend them unless you're a 12 year old girl who wants to drool over John Schmidt. You will see a lot more of the game/ice if you sit higher. I like sitting behind the net ND scores on twice if I'm up high enough because it's a great way to see plays form and catch nice goals up close. But most of all, I like my seats above the tunnel.

I agree with JJfP - higher is better if you want to get a real feel for the game. If you want the real "color" of the game, sit behind the bench. But bring earplugs for the kids. ;)

In other news, Eric Condra signed a two-year, $1.25-million deal with the Senators on Wednesday.

Boy, you'd think the Sun could find a better picture. The face makes him look a bit like a mad dog. :D :rolleyes:

Eesh. All these questions arising over the future of college hockey have me sad. Will smaller schools drop their programs down the road? If so (as I fear), will that mean the tourney will shrink back to 12 teams? Will ND join HE or the Super Conference fka the WCHA? Will I get to go to anymore away games? All I wanted in the off-season was speculation on who will be the captains, who will have a great season, will this be the year to bring home the banner of all banners... Stuff like that. In the end, I will still get to root for my team from now til the end of time, but I have always also rooted for college hockey, especially the "little guys..." Will I still be able to do that 5 years hence? I could have sworn that none of this would happen because the powers-that-be have claimed that they want to "grow the sport." If we lose 5 or 6 D1 teams because everyone is simply and only looking out for themselves, how is that growing the sport?

And, yes. I am a Socialist, not a Capitalist.

And, yes. I am a pessimist, not an optimist.

I have to say that my 2 word email to JJfP and WANDH yesterday was simply Good God. What the hell happened over the last week or so. Was there a 9.0 earthquake and a tsunami in the upper midwest? Blashill leaving, teams leaving to form new conferences, and bad feelings abound to the max. And what will happen to long time friends at WMU, BGSU, LSSU, NMU and the likes. I hate this, and feel it was totally unnecessary, and maybe I'm wrong but I blame the Big 10. Steve P and Craig P, will you chime in and tell me I am wrong and my anger is misplaced?

That said, I'd have to agree with JJfP. If this shakes out the way it is shaping up to, I'd say ND is better off following Miami. It might be a better philosophical fit to line up with the east, but as a practical move, it doesn't jive with their long time focus area on recruiting and past alliances. My vote, reluctantly, would be to go with the new conference.

Well, this is interesting. I have to believe it makes sense for the Irish to go West, but I can appreciate the philosophical reasons for going East. That said, there are going to be a number of OOC games to fill, so yes, you will still get to go to road games, they just may be OOC. And, there's plenty of room for Notre Dame to schedule BC and any other HEA teams they wish to fill those games. As a Miami fan, having the Irish in the league help with conference travel. I still think Jackson and Rico's relationship could keep the two schools together.

But, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it went the other way. Interesting times...

That wasn't my point at all. I love going to all away games (save for the ones that distance prohibits), and I was able to see in person almost all of ND's games. The few I couldn't travel to (NoDak, for example) I did at least got to watch on t.v. But I like going to away games, especially when they count in the league. I can't fly to Denver or Colorado Springs, drive to GF or Omaha for a weekend several times a season. For that matter, I can't fly to Boston and its surroundings either. The CCHA is the perfect fit for dedicated fans who want to travel. So I may get to go to a few road games if ND visits Michigan State or LSSU. But those will be few and far between.

I am finding several things odd about the aftermath of the announcement of this league. It seems an abundance of DU, NoDak and Miami fans aren't upset. It seems that most everyone else is. It seems doubly odd that the 2 leagues affected by these moves are eerily silent. Visit their websites. Philip Colvin joining the CCHA staff is the top story for Miami's league?! Post-graduate scholarships being awared is the lead story on the WCHA's site. Huh?! And what about my own hometown newspaper. They're too busy talking about recruits for ND FB...in 2012!

What I wouldn't give to be a fly on Coach Jackson's office wall. I keep thinking about the chance (however pessimistic or far-fetched it may be) that LSSU could close up shop in 5 or 6 years. If it weren't for LSSU, Coach Jackson would not be where he is today. And as a consequence, ND hockey would not be where it is today. I don't like loose ends. I don't like suspense. Make a decision. Make an announcement. Someone of note, just say something.

Any chance that ND goes independent? Cut some deal with an auto or at large bid based on one of the rating systems. Would have plenty of NC games available. I say this based on the rumor of the ND TV network.
