Incoming Freshmen for Fall of 2012

Re: Incoming Freshmen for Fall of 2012

According to the Brockport website, I see no indication of any international financial aid. In fact it looks like the scholarships that they do offer are very small and all tied in to living on campus. How are they getting Canadians?

Re: Incoming Freshmen for Fall of 2012

I think that it is safe to say that Concordia will definitely be a threat in the MCHA this winter, and will be far past their old reputation of only winning a
few games a year. Coach Wise has already done a superb job recruiting these players in such a short notice it seems, and they probably have the best
recruiting class in the MCHA so far. This seems to be the first time Concordia actually has a consistent number of NAHL and top tier Canadien junior
league players coming in. Very impressive. Concordia will definitely be the team to watch out for this season. It is also nice to see that Lake Forest has 2 NAHL players coming in, and one CCHL player, but it would be nice if LF could bring in as many players as Concordia is.

Re: Incoming Freshmen for Fall of 2012

I'm not impressed by either of those goaltenders' stats. But seriously. 6.47 GAA and .870? I've seen empty nets have better numbers.

Two of those recruits grew up within 25 miles of here, in small towns without anything resembling hockey programs.

Empty nets might have better GAAs, but they can make very few saves as per the definition of a save :D

Re: Incoming Freshmen for Fall of 2012

No Transfer thread so I will put it here: Braley Torris from USM to Neumann: Might as well get it out there now so we don't have to play the guessing game....

A lot of people including me considered Torris the top goaltender in the ECAC E last year. I cann't figure out why he would leave USM because they play a lot of top teams in there schedule, including Colby and Bowdoin. Also playing for Neumann include a lot of bus travel.

Torris is a great goaltender so nice pick up for Neuman. From Torris' perspective, the chances of Neumann making the NCAAs and being ranked etc, are so much greater than USM's so the transfer makes sense to me.

Who cares. brockport still stinks.

Another one for Brockport, Daniel Vernace, Trenton. It seems to me that you can't say Brockport stinks anymore, look at what they have coming in. For a fan of a rival SUNY team this is concerning that they won't be a easy W twice a year.

OJHL
F-Daniel Vernace, 30-31-61
F-Chase Nieuwendyk, 27-30-57
F-James Ryan, 16-33-49
F-Shane Cavalieri, 16-33-49
F-Jeremy DeFazio, 3-12-15
F-Logan Pfeffer, 11-22-23
F-Jesse Facchini, 10-17-27 (44pts in 10-11)
D-Jonathan Demme, 5-12-17 (6'3!!)
D-Chris Luker, 5-29-34 (6'3!!)
D-Chad Cummings, 3-9-12 (6'5!!)
G-Jared Lockhurst, 5-1-1, 2.24, .939

NAHL
D-Michael Zagari, 1-7-8 (6'2!!)

Brockport is another team I'm going to have a keen eye pointed at this season along with UST. A lot of Canadians at Brockport for the first time since I can remember, maybe ever?

Interested to see how they pan out.

Or how long before Brockport joins Potsdam, Morrisville, Neumann ect.....

I love what they are doing for their hockey team. I just hope they have their ducks in a row. They will need all the help they can get after losing Cody and friends.....now if we could just get Cortland on board the SUNYAC could become one of the deepest conferences. (If the Bport players pan out)

I will tell you this, Luker was an excellent HS player and i'm sure it was a good competition with Utica to get him. I'm interested to see how he's developed since his time with the New Hartford Spartans back in the day.
