Inaugural DIII Posters' Player of the Week - 11/17 through 11/21

Hello all!

I'd like to thank Mazile for suggesting this idea. I'll be running this each week during the Regular Season and Conference Playoffs.

Each week, I will post a nomination thread on Thursday. Any poster on the Board may nominate a player. All nominations are due by Monday 12noon ET! At that point, I will evaluate the nominees based on the following statistics:

Code:
<strike>*Only nominees who have dressed for a game won by their team will be considered.</strike>

*Items to consider for skater: Goals and Assists, GWGs,
PPGs or SHGs, GAA of the opposing Goalie.

*Items to consider for Goalies: Saves, Save %,
Goals Allowed vs. Avg Goals per Game of opponent, Shutouts.

Using these stats, I will determine the top 5 nominees, and post a Poll Monday night. This poll will close at 11:59pm Wednesday Night. The next weeks nomination thread will then begin with a congratulatory message to the winner of the previous week's poll, which shall have ended the night before.

So post you nominations here, due by Monday at 12noon ET!

I question your first requirement, that the team had to win the game. If a goalie makes 95 saves in a game he should be considered even if his team lost.
If a player scores 4 goals and the team loses he should still be considered.
Please review your "code".
I think this is a good idea. :D

I agree...

Perfect example, last night Gustavus Adolphus forward David Martinson scored 4 goals yet the team lost 6-5 in OT vs Bethel. Last Saturday night vs St. Olaf, Martinson again scored 4 goals in a 5-4 victory. Anyway you slice it, scoring 4 goals in a game, at this level (while being double teamed), is an incredible feat and deserves at least a nomination.

CARDS_ rule... thanks for taking your time to run this, should be exciting.

Re: Inaugural DIII Posters' Player of the Week - 11/17 through 11/21

Fair enough guys. You're absolutely right. I'm always open to suggestions as I start this thing.

Since we haven't done anything yet, and nobody's been unfairly deprived of consideration by this requirement... I think that the "requirement" that the team have won can be flexible, if there is a strong case such as an abnormally large amount of goals or saves.

To start this thing off, I'd like to nominate Plattsburgh's Eric Satim. Although the game is not yet over, he scored 2 in the first 5 minute, got an assist on the third goal, As it stands, those 3 would be enough to win the game. Satim's still playing hard now, I'll edit this post with his final stats for the week at the end of this game.

Can I take this to be a nomination?

No problem. As soon as Mazile suggested it, I wanted it to happen, it just sounded TOO fun not to do.:D

can I just nominate the Plattsburgh offense??? 17 goals in 2 games this weekend.... while giving up only 2.

Re: Inaugural DIII Posters' Player of the Week - 11/17 through 11/21

Wes Vesprini, Trinity goalie - won 2 games on the road in the first weekend of NESCAC play, including a 2-0 shut out of defending NESCAC champ, Amherst. Stats for the weekend were: .968 save% and 1.0 GAA.

The Plattsburgh offense only gave up two goals? Not the defense or the goalie?:p

Well, since technically the offense didn't even give up those 2 goals... but no, Satim is on the list. If you see another Cardinal who deserves the nod, I'll gladly add him to the list.

Re: Inaugural DIII Posters' Player of the Week - 11/17 through 11/21

Freshman Defenseman Zach Menard helped Skidmore start 2-0 in the ECAC East, scoring 3 goals and adding 2 assists in his team's 8-6 win over NEC and 6-2 wind over St. Anselm's.

Re: Inaugural DIII Posters' Player of the Week - 11/17 through 11/21

Senior goaltender Casey Tuttle picked up two wins this weekend in leading #11 Elmira to two crucial road wins against #14 Hobart.

He made 26 saves in Friday's 3-2 win and then made 36 saves yesterday to shut out Hobart and lead the Soaring Eagles to a 2-0 win and the sweep of the Statesmen.

The last time Hobart was shut out at home was on January 26th, 2007 in a 3-0 loss to Neumann.

That's also the last time Hobart was swept at home.

Re: Inaugural DIII Posters' Player of the Week - 11/17 through 11/21

Casey Terreri...2 points in 3 games? OUT

Mike Dahlinger being the DIII P/G Leader for the season should have no bearing on who the Player of the WEEK should be....

Chris Laganeire...DIII P/G Leader for the week....:-D
