Re: Inaugural DIII Posters' Player of the Week - 11/17 through 11/21
I'd say that even thought his stats are quite good, there's no reason to include Tuttle in the poll. I know Hobart has been very good the last few years, but this year they seem nowhere near the team they were with Longo in net. Wasn't DeCroo, arguably Hobart's best player, out for one or both games?
Trinity's goalie shut out Amherst - a team that is still ranked. I know Hamilton isn't ranked and isn't that great, but neither is Hobart.
Plus, I'm just trying to get under Derek's skin... but seriously, no need for Tuttle.
Good point about DeCroo. He wasnt dressed for Saturday...Not sure about Friday, I wasn't there.
Amherst isn't the same team they were last year either losing Landers and a few other key players. They've never been known for their offense either as their goaltenders were the big reason why they made their run last year.
Hobart looks like a team that just needs to figure some things out and start buying into Taylor's systems and I think they'll still be a decent team. I'd say they are probaby still the third best team in the ECAC West and could knock off Oswego with the right bounce of the puck. Hobart has always given Oswego trouble since the last year at Romney.
I dont see how you can discount one over the other. Their stats are so similar and equally impressive. You either take both or none.
But if we want to play this game...
Why should Laganiere be included? He's a product of the line he plays on...arguably the best in the country. Selleck and Fox are both going to be playing pro hockey after they graduate/leave Oswego.
He also played Morrisville. Granted, Morrisville beat Elmira but Elmira is playing much better hockey in November than they were in October. But still, Morrisville is an average team at best and probably should still be considered in the below average category. They have a great goalie but honestly, not much else around him. Like i said after the Moville/Elmira game, some of the kids on their team could barely skate.
Elmira won two crucial ECAC West games on the road at a place that a lot of teams have a hard time winning at. Can you tell me the last time Oswego beat Hobart at the Cooler? We were both there last year when they got crushed 6-2 and I was there during the NC year and saw Oswego get outplayed but manage a 2-2 tie.
Your move Sir.
