Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

Re: Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

Oh comeon Bob, you set that one up on a tee; you can't expect me to let all the easy ones go by without taking a swing.

Admittedly, I could have opted for the safe play and put the smiley face after it, but I thought using paragon and patman in the same sentence was already none-too-subtle.

I wasn't teeing anything up, just making a very elemental point that the group that did the study 5mn is hanging his hat on is, at least from readily available info from their website and all, someone who would approach this issue in a very biased way. If I came on here and hung my hat on some study by a big anti-illegal immigration group and they found that the Tucson program was a great program, it'd be reasonable for people to point out that probably quite a biased source.

But even elemental points get yanked every which way on this board. The real tee up was 5mn claiming Steve Forbes endorsed the study, because it was referenced in an article in Forbes magazine. Or the tee up that somehow we should all bow to this study by a group that is likely to be heavily biased in a certain direction. But, I guess that's all kosher with you.

Re: Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

Bob, the law was put out with a handful of other legislation. What was the one thing they had in common? They all negatively targeted Hispanics. So immediately it leads one to want to keep a bit of a watch.

But the opinion the auditor reached was the exact opposite of Huppenthal ruled. I have no problem that his point of view is the exact opposite of what the independent audit came up with...what I have a problem with is that it didn't result in further fact finding, dialog or compromise. It resulted in him instantly ruling the program broke the law and ignoring the independent perspective on the matter. There's little question he took no effort to get to the bottom of any discrepencies. Whether true or not...from the outside it looks like potential corruption, racism and/or government overreach.

It targeted illegals. It just so happens that lots of the illegals streaming across Arizona's border are Hispanic (though not all, and the others are caught and treated the same). What is it with you hating on Arizona so regularly? You always seek out folks that speak negatively against Arizona and believe the worst. You are very subtle though by sprinkling your comments with words like potential, but your aspersions are clear.

Enough about the biased audit.

Paul Babeu, Pinal County sheriff and one of the most outspoken individual in Arizona on illegal immigration matters, was designated the National Sheriff of the Year for 2011 by the National Sheriff's Association. But, he's just one of those racist Arizonans, how can the national organization give him such an award?

Just a reminder... Obama's enforcement of immigration laws is mostly for show so he can get away with amnesty later on....

Remember... nothing matters more than elections and feeling good. Rule of law and maintenance of society is for suckers.... starting to sound more and more like the banana republics illegals tend to come from though.

That's particularly bad, given that Obama has made a big show of supposedly focusing more resources specifically on illegals who commit crimes (beyond the crime of being illegal of course).

In SE Arizona, sounds like the start of the Monument Fire, which burned up a number of homes and businesses in the Sierra Vista area, is tied to the border.

History doesn't repeat. But it rhymes.

It seems doubtful that Mrs. O'Leary's cow actually started the fire. It seems
likely that this myth, which was popularized by a 1938 movie "In Old
Chicago," was the product of anti-Irish, anti-Catholic prejudice. Lyrics about Mrs.
O'Leary were written to the tune of "Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight." Chicago
had thousands of wooden buildings and miles of wood-paved streets and
sidewalks to burn. There was a months-long drought that year. In 1997, the Chicago
City Council passed a resolution officially exonerating Mrs. O'Leary of blame.

Note they did not say a darn thing about the cow. People can not be held responsible for the anti social behavior of their cows.

However, maybe the Anti-Catholic bias was against holy cows like this one:

There are a bunch of them where I used to work. The scientists used them to study cow digestion.

The scientists used them to study cow digestion.

I think I speak for everyone here when I say, ew.

Anyway, everyone knows holy cows are Hindu.

Great.

The administrations tries to take another step to cut down violence by investigating potential gun scams at the border...and its stopped by conservatives again. At the end of the day it becomes obvious its not about securing anything...but rather about attacking the administration.

Perhaps we should just hand guns out at the border...supposedly guns make society safer.

Guns Groups to Sue Over New Obama Regulations, DOJ Vows To 'Vigorously Oppose'

The Justice Department, facing growing questions over Operation Fast and Furious, a controversial sting targeting Mexican drug cartels and American gunrunners, announced last month that it would begin requiring firearms dealers along the nation’s Southwest border to report multiple sales of certain semi-automatic rifles. The department said such rifles are "highly sought after by dangerous drug trafficking organizations," and the new measures would help "detect and disrupt" weapons trafficking networks.

On Wednesday, the National Rifle Association and the National Shooting Sports Foundation, a trade association, were planning to file separate lawsuits challenging the government’s authority to impose the new requirements. The groups are seeking immediate court orders blocking the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives from implementing the new reporting requirments.

Re: Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

Arizona recently set up a voluntary fund where people can donate to build the rest of the border fence, since Obama quit building it and it's unlikely he'll finish the job. Of course one of the problems is that apparently the feds won't cooperate to provide access to border areas to put up the rest of the fence, even if they don't have to pay for, or build it. Figures.

Oh, 5mn, you can send your donations here:

Are they going to volunteer to patrol it to?

Fences are just a money sink for idiots unless you have 24 hour surveillance at which point that sink becomes one of these. (A black hole)

Re: Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

And that has nothing to do with Congress pulling the funding for the fence...

Huh? The feds fail to build the fence has nothing to do with Arizona setting up a fund to try to finish the fence through private donations? That makes no sense.

His point is that Congress handles the purse strings. Not Obama. You said specifically that Obama stopped building the fence. Well, that's just not true. It's quite obvious after the debt celing debate that this Congress doesn't do anything the President wants. So, blame Congress, don't blame Obama.

Re: Illegal Immigration IV: Amnesty For Some, Miniature American Flags For Others

Probably because the other anti-illegal immigration groups have the common sense to blame both sides.

The U.S. Border Security Council is sharply criticizing both the Obama Administration and congressional Republicans for agreeing to a 2011 budget that slashes $226 million in funding for the border fence along the U.S.-Mexico border.

http://usbordersecurity.info/council-blasts-deal-that-cuts-border-fence-funding

But yeah, Obama can't wipe his *** without conceding something to the Republicans, but he's single minded in forcing Arizona to let in half of Mexico, Bob.

Oh, good heavens. The President has no influence on spending in this country. How could I forget?

Obama has done everything he can to undermine building the border fence. But, he apparently believes it's basically built:

After the whole "Gunwalker" and "Fast and Furious" fiasco you can't actually believe this, can you? Intentionally arming the cartels for some, at best, wavy hand purpose... at worse, as political leverage against your domestic opponents (and some rumors are darker than that). Do you even realize how many Americans have died because of "Fast and Furious"? The only reason we haven't seen en masse resignations is that the only MSM paper that will even touch this is the LA Times. Don't suppose you realize they had to give immunity to various head staff of the ATF to testify on this issue. Our government intentionally provided arms to the Zetas in order for some absurd feather in some guy's cap on the odd day that maybe they arrest some mid-level cartel lieutenant. I suppose murders don't count when they happen to mexicans... but I should hope to believe that even you think they count when they kill americans and american border partol officers.

edit: to the point, the US government WAS running a major gun scam without even an obvious end strategy or point.
