Uh Oh..pizza wars! I didn't mean to offend. I only tried Lombardi's the one time. It was a bit of a let down based on the high expectations I had. Meet me in New Haven or West Haven. We can settle this over a pizza from Pepe's, Sally's or Modern(or Zuppardi's). Why do you think Yale and Quinnipiac are so good?

There is even some pretty good pie here in San Diego. We can meet here if you like. http://sandiegopizzapie.blogspot.com/2010/11/our-quest-finding-best-pizza-in-san.html?m=1

Sorry to hear of the loss. Thoughts and prayers coming to you from all over the hockey world.

Re: Hopefully you will find this a fun read-let me know...

So this happened....Not sure if you have followed my story, but I recently wrote a chapter on the lake I grew up on in CT where I learned to skate and play hockey.

http://oldtimehockeyfornow.blogspot.com/2014/01/chapter-45-iceman-cometh.html

I was back in CT to deal with my father's illness, then death and funeral in Dec and early January. While I was there the first polar vortex came blasting through and created some of the finest ice in years. People haven't skated on the ice in a long time. Not like when we were kids. Anytime there was good ice the entire hockey community would come out and skate into the night.

Well, I got a few of my old buddies and their kids together and they all went out and had a great time on the black ice. I left CT to head back home to San Diego a few weeks ago. I guess there has been some warm weather, snow and rain and the beautiful ice was no more. As I was leaving, the lakes homeowners association had a meeting and decided to ban skating on the lake. We all cried BS.

Then the next wave of the polar vortex came through over the past few days. I had a Facebook message this morning from a hockey buddy in West Haven telling me someone had fallen in. One of the neighbors directly across the lake from our house decided to test the ice...alone. Bad idea. He is 70 years old. Said he was testing the ice to see if it was safe for some children. This makes no sense because children haven't skated on the lake in years. At any rate, the guy fell in....fire and rescue had to come pull him out. he was in the water for nearly 20 minutes. He went to the hospital but was fine. he was laughing at how silly the whole thing was. But he made the national news..this is from ABC news tonight. This is literally my back yard. you can see our house in one of the pictures. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ddnq7_Ka0ZQ

Are you related to the actor, Gregory Balaban? I saw his name on the credits of some TV show.
