I wanted to thank everyone for your feedback and encouragement. It has been suggested that I change the name because people were concerned it might be a spam link...so I've changed the title of the blog and the link to:

I originally started the blog while on an adventure to Mexico to visit a shaman who was supposedly going to heal my back.. I was fairly skeptical but went anyway and kept a journal of my trip. Feel free to go back and read it if you like....people seemed to enjoy it...

My relating my hockey experiences from just kind of happened and I kept getting requests for more so I've kept writing. It's been a lot of fun and I will continue until I run out of stuff to say that I hope will be worth reading.

Been enjoying your adventures, Steve.

Growing up in Texas and Oklahoma, hockey was as foreign to me as it was to you in Florida. The University of Denver changed all of that.:)

I added a new chapter. It takes an unexpected turn, but in a decade or so it comes back to all hockey, all the time;
Senior league, tournaments in Europe, youth, prep, junior and more college hockey. I hope you will be patient with me.

Good Lord, I added you as a contact, sshablak@aol.com. I had a Siberian husky, have serious back problems(herniated discs, stenosis etc) and am a financial advisor. Played college(SUNY Canton) where we were National NJCAA Champions both years I was there. Played ten years of semi pro and some in the NAHL, sound familiar ?

Found my 1975-76 ECAC Hockey guide. A lot of defunct teams and a lot of rinks that had not been built yet. My son's college coach was a freshman @ BU (but he did not dress when BU visited Clarkson :( ).

Oh yea -- you're listed on the UConn roster. :)

Enjoying this, forgot to also say my name is Steve S. And, I played against the Johnstown Jets and the famous Carlson Bros(goons). Tell me you had a customized Ford van or a Celica and I'll take some of those "royalties".

i played vs Kirk in summer league we traveled to Conn from Long Island/NYC to play the best they had to offer, he had mad skills as they say I think ha had a few yrs on me,and yes i remember him as a pitcher, not bad

I played for Kirk McCaskill as he was coach of the Mohawk Valley Comets, a nice man, big and bald. He actually suited up one game and he could still play. I think he had a lot of either NHL or WHA experience, or both. Must have been his son.

Yes, Ted McCaskill played 4 NHL games and 91 in the WHA. His son, Kirk is had lots of hair.

Sadly, UVM did away with their baseball program a few years ago. Now their facility is used by a Short Season A minor league baseball team

Oops...yes it was Ted and lol at lot's of hair. Funniest moment with Ted was when we went to play the Johnstown Jets in Pa. That was the Carlson Bros(Hansen bros in slapshot) They actually had a guy named Dave Hansen(who played one of the bros in the movie) I "inadvertently" let my stick kind of loop in the air as he was knocking me on my keester. Well, it bounced off the top of his head and as much as I tried to make it look like an accident he didn't like it. Next thing I know he was face to face with me and the crowd (like being in a gladiator pit) were on their feet looking for blood, mine. We tied in pretty much a wrestling match and went to the "Sin Bin". Russ Smith my teammate came to the box and said congratulations, I said "for what". He said you just tied the toughest guy in the league. My next thought was "Is he going to want to kill me after we get out". Never happened.

On the bus ride home(6 hours) I was reading the paper holding the paper up in front of my face, all of a sudden someone was yelling "hot news" and I noticed attention had turned to me. Within three seconds I was holding an "inferno" as someone set the paper on fire, flames got big very fast ! Fun for big kids ! Much laughter, oh well.
