Home Improvement - Undoing Previous Owners "Landlord" Specials

Had a garage door spring snap last night sometime.

called around and no one gives quotes over the phone anymore? God I feel like I'm about to get scammed.

described the double spring, two-wide, metal insulated door and got... "sorry we don't give prices from the office. Need to have a tech inspect it."

anyways, booked with one of the big ones and crossing my fingers. They didn't mention a service fee to just come and look at it so I won't pay a dime until they do the job for an agreed upon price.

Had a tortion spring snap on my garage door pre-pandemic. (The springs that are across the door opening, not along the track) Called the neighbors to see who they used, and wound up talking to a man who spoke broken English but would "be there today."

Was $150 check to replace both springs.

I'm expecting 350-400 based on Google. I had the springs replaced about 7-9 years ago, which sounds about the average life of a spring. Can't remember what it cost but there was a bunch of other damage that had to be repaired.

My parents had a hell of a time with springs at the house I grew up in. Had a solid oak door. (Well, the five horizontal slabs were all solid, anyway)

Went through them every two years or so. Didn’t seem to matter what spring they purchased.

Probably should have had four springs. Too much weight.

Wait, this is still going on?

Every day, with the female half putting most of it on Instagram. There was a video a few weeks ago of a fight and the male half looks at his son and says something to the effect of “you know I love you” and it’s being freaking filmed and put online. Many of the docs and recordings of the various hearings of these two are online via MN court sites. and the Mrs posts everything so it’s easy to follow this saga even if you didn’t know them

he’s set to marry a Minnesota girl next month ( former Wild employee/fishing tv show host/life coach) and I’m honestly wondering how many arrests there could be

About 8 Pm until TBD. Seems about squirrel size given the sounds it was making. Put out our live traps.

Guessing it’s not squirrel so could be rats, or raccoons. I had pest control spray my house quarterly and they’d talk about how rats and mice are getting worse esp in Minneapolis and St. Paul

could be mice but usually takes days for them to reproduce to a point you hear them in walls at night

I’m sorry- I hate sleeping when I know there’s some animal inside
