I believe Gordon Lightfoot is penning something as we speak on the demise of Hockey 'Rast' this year....

The legend lives on from Fighting Sioux on down of the great tournament called the Frozen Four. The Great tournament its said never gives up her dead when the cockiness of March comes early...

Just got the copy from Gordon the Canadian:

With a load of six teams and defending trophy
The Hockey East was ready
That conference was true and was a bone to be chewed
When the cockiness of March comes early

The conference was the pride of the East side
Coming back from some Championship in Boston
As Conferences go, it was bigger than most
With 12 teams and good coaches well-seasoned
Concluding some terms with Notre Dame
When they left fully loaded for Tampa
Then later that night when Northeastern got shellacked
Could it be the north wind they'd been feelin'?

The loss on ESPN made a tattle-tale sound
And every man knew, as Bertagna did too
'Twas the witch of cockiness stealin'
The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait when BU’s fate was crashin
When the cockiness of March came slashin'
When afternoon came it was lots of pain
In the face of a hurricane Michigan, Notre Dame caved in.

When suppertime came, Providence came on deck
Saying, "Fellas, it's too rough to believe."
At seven PM a main hatchway caved in
Bertagna said, "Fellas, this blows."
Bertagna wired in he had water comin' in
And the good Hockey East was in peril
And later that night when only BC was still in sight
Came the wreck of the Hockey East season.

Does anyone know where the love of God goes
When the six teams turn the minutes to hours?
If only two teams had made Tamp Bay
We coulda put this season behind us
Providence split up and Lowell capsized
They both broke deep and took water
And all that remains are the Juniors, sophomores, and freshman

The Frozen four rolls on in the rooms of her ice-water mansion
Old Maine and UNH steam like a young man's dreams of the glory they need to recoup
And farther below, UVM takes in what recruits BC can send her
UMass looking to an Ice Cream Dream
And the Frozen Four goes as the champions all know
With the cockiness of March remembered

In a musty old hall in Boston they prayed
In the College hockey Cathedral
The church bell chimed 'til it rang 5 times
For each team eliminated in the regionals
The legend lives on from the Fighting Sioux on down
Of the tournament they call the Frozen Four
The Frozen Four, they said, never gives up her dead
When the cockiness of March come early
