Re: Hockey East QF, Game 1 Maine @ Merrimack

Season will be over tomorrow night. This team can't win on the road against anyone who's any good. I expect Nyquist to say see you later. Abbott is a good possibility as well.

18th in the pwr right now... though five teams are tied for 13th

Re: Hockey East QF, Game 1 Maine @ Merrimack

Explain how the coach was responsible for tonights loss please.

1/3 of our season have been losses or ties in games we've led in. Something like 7 of those games have been multi-goal blown leads. Trend is an understatement.

Re: Hockey East QF, Game 1 Maine @ Merrimack

No matter whose fault it is, you aren't going to go anywhere in the playoffs if:
-You can't protect a multiple goal lead
-Your goalie doesn't make routine saves
-You allow shorthanded goals
-You give the team the puck in front of your own net

Its as simple as that.

Re: Hockey East QF, Game 1 Maine @ Merrimack

Maybe there is something to be said for playing a cupcake out of conference schedule like Mack had this season.

Re: Hockey East QF, Game 1 Maine @ Merrimack

the sad thing is, maine blew a game in which they limited da costa to 0-1-1 and watched him sit in the box for four minutes

Re: Hockey East QF, Game 1 Maine @ Merrimack

Maine got the lead because Merrimack took a stupid penalty. Maine didn't draw it by beating Merrimack to a puck. The penalty was just Bigos being Bigos. Then Maine extended the lead at the end of a shift that MC dominated, but then suffered a defensive lapse.

You could say Maine blew the game. Or you could say that Merrimack almost blew it, but kept their composure and clawed their way back to win. Maine didn't really deserve to win tonight. They did a few nice things, and for the most part the effort was there. Merrimack was just better.

Yeah if you win those games. Maine can't even beat Bentley and Connecticut.

I haven't done the Pairwise math, but are you better off scheduling out of conference teams like ND and going 3-2-2 or scheduling the want-a-be-a DI teams and going 6-0-1? Apparently, it has worked for Mack this season and will give them max one game in the NCAA's.

Re: Hockey East QF, Game 1 Maine @ Merrimack

please explain to me how TW blew a 2-0 lead?

ummmm.... stopping the forecheck and going into that neutral zone trap that Maine has never been good at.

stopping hustling... Maien completely stopped playing when tim thought that (in the words of the kid sitting next to me, Tim has them playing like he thinks that 2-2 is a big enough lead)

Gentlemen, patience. It's one game (although an important one). Obviously, it's not over yet. It will be difficult, but this team can win two straight. Maine did it last year (home), against the River Hawks. This game could have gone either way. The team committing the fewest mistakes usually wins. I know, very profound but true. :D Blaming the coaching staff for that loss is silly. People usually blame the coach when they are frustrated because they don't want to blame the players when their team loses. Becomes even more frustrating when their team looses after having leads.:(
