Hockey Canada Cup

Re: Hockey Canada Cup

I don't think either team should draw too many conclusions from the final score since (with all due respect to the very talented US team) both Team USA's goals were the result of flukey bounces. One obvious conclusion is that Team Canada's power play, which was anemic, needs some work...seems to me that that was the real difference in the game.

Be that as it may, one conclusion that can be drawn is that where the US was visibly inferior to Canada three years ago, each passing event reinforces that is no longer the case.

I would tend to agree. Canada is still carrying a roster of 26 trying to get the team whittled down in the upcoming months. Not to make any excuses here however this and the fact that Cherie Piper, Jennifer Wakefield and Delaney Collin were all out with injuries while Gillian Ferrari/Becky Kellar were both healthy scratches (it was their turn) may have had some influence on Canada's lack of PP punch.

Regardless the US has taken six of the last eight meetings between these two teams. That can not be just swept under the rug.

To me Vetter was the story in the final stopping 34 Canadian shots and 19 in the first period alone. She's the real deal.
