Here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again--LSSU @ NMU 2/26-2/27

OK, now that I have it on the right side of the boards...

It's the Lakers' turn to make the journey down M-28 for the last regular season games of the '09-'10 season.
Sault Ste. Marie Residence Center of the Michigan College of Mining & Technology is coming off of a sweep at the hands of the 'Nooks of _airbanks. The 'Cats are coming off of a split in Ann Arbor, the weasels ending their 7 game unbeaten streak.
The last time these teams met, the Boat Anchors sunk the 'Cats both nights. I can't remember the terms for the Cappo Cup, so I can't tell you what this means in terms of who could take it.

Discuss, and to heck with playing nice.

If I'm not mistaken it is a total goals trophy so due to the two blowout victories by the Lakers in December it is unlikely that the Wildcats will own the Cappo Cup after this season even if they win both games this weekend

Don't put it in the books just yet. Your team has been outscored 33-12 in its last 8 games. They have been outscored by at least 3 goals in 4 of those games.

IF we cant win the cup, a sweep and a first round bye would be a nice consolation prize.

If we are entertaining any thoughts of an at-large NCAA tournament birth, we MUST win both games this weekend.

NCAAs are a long ways off. Focus on two more wins for the 6 seniors and getting up the scenario of three wins for the Conf. Title game.

Nevermind thinking about at-large bids. The Cats only focus should be on Friday night. Assuming UM beats ND Thursday night in Ann Arbor, the boys will need to win Friday to regain a 2 point lead on the Wolverines. A Friday loss would put a first round bye out of our control.

Is spring break next week? If so, will the band be there for Senior Night?

Just another reason why a first round bye is so important. NMU would be back from break while a first round series would mean a sparse student crowd at least for game one.

Awesome!
Wanna help with the Silent Auction?? ;)

If by "help" you mean bid on things, then possibly. Help as in miss the game and watch tables...not so much as we have 2 friends from here & 2 from lower mi making the trip up.

A very interesting weekend of scoreboard watching is ahead of us. I no doubt expect NMU to take care of their business and a little help along the way would be nice. That meaning, Notre Dame could do everyone a favor and take some points from Michigan. In doing so Michigan would fall to a possible #6 seed and thus NMU would meet Alaska in the second round, barring no upsets. Alaska would be a points bonanza for NMU PWR purposes in the second round...
