So this is all because the Standing Rock tribe won't have a stinkin' meeting??? Talk about being hopped up on power.

How about the Smashers? Big boulder, lots of rubble...

You gotta wonder what the SBoHE ISN'T taking care of while they're holding meetings about this non-issue.

NCAA said tribe-based college mascots needed support from the tribe for, like, 30 years. Probably to make sure no one was being offended. I get not wanting to offend anyone. I don't get what the Standing Rock tribe has against UND Fighting Sioux. I mean, if a college mascot is affecting your life, don't you have bigger problems? This isn't Family Guy, here...

If they could, there's no way they would. The family no longer owns the Casinos, the Ralph is a huge source of income for the family. Why take it down?

While talking to a friend who went to UND we came up with one suggestion and one problem. They could be called the PS's for Politically correct but they could not use just the name of the State. The name of the State and the one to it's south both contain the name of a Native American tribe so they should be changed at once, immediately or whatever,.

Actually my condolences to the hockey fans from Grand Forks.

You do realize that NCAA headquarters is in INDIANapolis, INDIANa. Wouldn't you think the NCAA would move and boycott using facilities in Indiana until this is changed? :rolleyes:

Or, if enough students signed a petition:
-The University of Sioux North Dakotans

I honestly almost went to UND for this exact reason...just too far from the cities

this is a sad day indeed.....oh well its going to be a fun summer

the new name should be the old name.

Didn't the Sioux come out in favor of the name recently? I seem to recall a NYT article about that.

How about the UND Fighting Grand Forks? The one liners here are obvious.

I know I know...this is no joke. UND has always been the "Fightin Sioux".

I vote for either the aforementioned "Fighting Soo", or just UND with no nickname. Either way we could get a corporate tie-in from the railroad or No-Name Steaks.:D

But then they'd have to be named the University of North Dakota Fighting (Soo d/b/a) Canadian Pacifics. Which, considering where most of their players come from, this might be even more accurate. :D
