Guess not with the DU Pioneers- the reason Native Americans got pushed off their land anyway was the Pioneers and settlers moving west! :-P

on a positive note I can only imagine how many fighting Sioux Jersey's and things UND is going to sell over the next few months!

Oh Watch out other UND! with the Sioux off the list it's a matter of time til the NCAA locks on Notre Dame Fighting Irish!

But no one really complainst about the Fighting Irish.

But what do you expect? The Irish are used to degradation. It probably feels complimentary to them. Freakin' Irish.

I'm pretty sure Miami still has an independent bookstore that still sells Miami Redskins apparel even though the name was discontinued for more than a decade.

That would never work since the Crusades were fought against and probably killed thousands of:

I've never heard of some of those, but if there's any left they might call the NCAA...:p

Here's an easy fix...change name to "Fighting Sue's," in honor to the only winners in this exercise in silliness and PC extremeism--the lawyers who put on this inane production for the State of ND, the NCAA, and the anti-nickname zealots associated with the tribe. Name sounds the same, and the new mascot can be a slick looking barrister in an Armani suit.

So, as someone on the outside that's often heard the rumor, does the Englestad (sp.?) family truly have the ability to take the wrecking ball to the beautiful arena if the politicians and lawyers force a binding name change? Now THAT could keep a lot more attorneys occupied for awhile should this be the case!

Roughrider State, Flickertail State, Norse Dakota, The 701

So I say we go with the North Dakota Roughriders
