Headline News Thread

This is bizarre: a white woman got shot by a black cop last week, to complete shocked silence by the national press who don't have a template for what to say about it. Honestly, I don't know how to even think about this either. So bizarre. It had to be planned for years, this guy went through the whole police training academy and whatnot.
I live five blocks from it. My neighborhood online message board has turned into a complete s**t show

Re: Headline News Thread

It's in the Cops thread. Obviously.

I see. I tried to move on over, but it's locked. Anyway, will be very curious to hear the whole story. Somali refugees have gained a very negative reputation already among some of my more provincial St. Cloud relatives.

Sorry, I didn't realize it was locked.

Re: Headline News Thread

Unreal. It's disappointing she psychologically murdered this young man and then tried to parlay it into her social benefit. They give her 15 months.

I know this is a first of its kind conviction, but it just feels light to me.

That's a little too "eggshell psyche" to me. This feels like a civil wrong to me, not a criminal wrong. Being a dick is not criminal.

There's literally a term of art in the legal world called the eggshell skull theory - if you hit someone in a manner that wouldn't hurt an ordinary person but causes a severe injury to the victim, even if you didn't know about the underlying condition, you're still liable. You take the victims as they are.

If we're going to treat mental health the same as physical health, then we need to treat it the same. You take your victims as they are.

Well then, I would be wrong. :)

Taylor Swift wins $1 in groping case.

Don't know how many of you had heard of this one but yeah this happened. Basically, a radio DJ in Denver grabbed her *** while taking a photo with her, got fired, and sued Swift for defamation of character basically saying he didn't . Swift countered for assault, asked for $1 and won.

Looking at the photo, yeah he definitely gave her a grab under her skirt.

Her testimony was great.
