Major Cyberattack Sweeps Globe, Hitting FedEx, U.K. Hospitals, Spanish Companies

A massive cyberattack disrupted computer systems in dozens of countries on Friday....U.S. delivery giant FedEx Corp. was among the companies caught in the cyberattack....England’s National Health Service said 16 hospitals and clinics were forced to cancel appointments and divert ambulances as a result of the cyberattack. Russian antivirus vendor Kaspersky Lab ZAO said the malware appeared in 74 countries and hit Russia hardest.

The malware believed to be behind the attacks encrypts data on infected computers and essentially holds it for ransom. Known as WannaCry or Wanna Decryptor, the so-called ransomware program homes in on vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows systems.

Drunk driver (in middle of day!) loses control of car in Times Square, 1 person killed 22 injured, 3 critically.

The NYPD does not believe the incident is related to terrorism.

The motorist reportedly drove the wrong way up Seventh Avenue for up to three blocks, hitting several people along the way before crashing into a pole at 45th Street and Broadway, police and witnesses said.

Re: Headline News Thread

I've been in a stretch limo that didn't break 30, and even though it was a shock and I didn't ask for it, I was clearly important enough to warrant it.

LOL. One of the scariest moments I ever had in a car was driving through midtown in a cab that was shooting up to about 30 between lights. If you've ever been in the city you know that the instant the light changes an avalanche of vehicles pours down into the box from the cross street. It's a solid wall of metal. But Akbar really wanted to get me to Grand Central so he chanced it and somehow we hit every light perfectly.

30 mph in Manhattan feels like 140 in Arizona.

Yep, and that's when as a pedestrian, you give drivers the "I will kill you muthafcka" stare and start walking anyway.

I told you to trade the Prius for a Hellcat. And be sure it's the Charger, not the Challenger.

You might be surprised how quickly a Prius can accelerate. It's no Hellcat - not by a longshot, but they're quicker off the line than you'd expect.

Yeah, it's almost like when I just asked for a taxi the Hilton concierge said, "Sorry you have to go to LaGuardia - here, do it like a d0uchebag for the same 50 bucks".

And they pretty much top out at that insta-40mph. ;)

I swear I've been stuck behind more Priuses doing 50 on the highway since I got my new ride. It's infuriating.

This, and I have an I4 Fusion. Agree on the "quick to 40" - after that - meh, but can certainly hold 75 on the freeway.
