Waiting at the airport my buddy just said think of the loss in the archives. The ancient bibles. The texts. Buildings can be rebuilt. Those are gone forever.

They said some relics and artifacts that are one-of-a-kind are gone.

Any chance they have, "backups" and/or copies made of everything in there? I realize that they would not in any way be the same but I hope like heck they've at least done that.

Also depends on how much they moved out for the renovations.

I attended mass there once. The picture doesn't do justice.

As did I. There's little way to convey that all 850 years were simultaneously alive and speaking to you. It was everything: soothing, profound, monstrous, and the quiet of deep space.

I didn't want "Notre Dame was destroyed" to occur during my lifepsan.
