Re: He says he's not dead.

It also shows what is wrong with social media and how the MSM has gotten lazy to the point of believing as gospel a tweet from a "source" that is considered less than credible by those in the know.

That and the fact that the A team is home on weekends.

Re: He says he's not dead.

The editor of OnwardState has resigned and it appears the website is down.

As a journalist, I only hope that it stays down.

A letter from the Managing Editor of Onward State:

Earlier this evening, Onward State reported that Joe Paterno had passed away. However, the mountain of evidence stacked opposite that report is too much to ignore. At this time, I would like to issue a retraction of our earlier tweets.

I never, in a million years, would have thought that Onward State would be cited by the national media, and today, I sincerely wish it never had been. To all those who read and passed along our reports, I sincerely apologize for misleading you. To the Penn State community and to the Paterno family most of all, I could not be more sorry for the emotional anguish I am sure we caused. There are no excuses for what we did. We all make mistakes, but it’s impossible to brush off one of this magnitude. Right now, we deserve all of the criticism headed our way.

You may recall when Reagan was in surgery after the assassination attempt, ABC's Frank Reynolds announced that press secretary Jim Brady had died. And ABC showed White House staffers, standing around a monitor in tears. It turned out those folks were reacting to Reynolds' announcement, rather than Brady's death. This caused Reynolds to snap "let's get this right" or words to that effect on live TV. And this cockup occurred with the A team in attendance, the most highly skilled cadre of broadcast journalists anywhere, with the networks at the height of their power, and involving a story with enormous potential consequences. If it can happen under those circumstances, with those people, it's perfectly understandable, though entirely regrettable, that it could happen here.

Re: He says he's not dead.

It's certainly news worthy, but will anyone really shed a tear?

The guy knowingly allowed the raping of boys. (allegedly )

I won't dance on any graves, but it will nauseating if/when ESPN tries to deify him after he dies.

* you. JoePa, Gagliardi, Bowden, etc...that's college football. I'm separating two issues.

The guy did a lot of good for a lot of people. Are they not allowed to be thankful?

Les-nowadays it all appears to depend on which side of the media you fall. Some people they crucify for even a single act. Others can live a life as a drug addict or have a history of multiple arrests all of which is forgotten if the media wants to just make them look like an angel.

This. JoePa was/is/forever will be a College Football legend and an icon when his time comes. I'm of the same mindset, Brent.

* me?

A lot of good?

Call me crazy, but I don't equate drug addiction with looking the other way when you KNOW someone is raping children.

I suppose we should give the Catholic Church a pass also coz, you know, a lot the other stuff they were doing outside of giving pedophiles and child rapists a safe haven and home base for their activities, was you know, good.

He was college football? If so, who the **** would want to be a part of college football?

Go away Joe. Go away.
