HE Quarters: UML @ Maine

Re: HE Quarters: UML @ Maine

This should be interesting ... the Lowell fans are cautiously optimistic but the fact that it's up in Maine petrifies us. And the Maine fans seem to mostly think they're going to lose.

Start finding out in about 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Re: HE Quarters: UML @ Maine

It is....in fact the Athletics Dept posted the following on Facebook :

Hockey East quarterfinals today!!! Maine vs. UMass Lowell tonight at 7 PM at Alfond Arena. Tickets available at the door. Free for Maine students, $15 for all others. Come back early from spring break and support your Black Bears!! Let's show UMass Lowell why Maine fans are the best in Hockey East!

Did the season ticket holders get the $15 deal?

Nor should you. Lowell outplayed Maine in every facet of the game.

I think it was the play of the Lowell D, that made the difference. They came into the game with a plan and stuck with it, except for awhile in the second period. Credit to Wilson he kept Maine in it, especially the first period. Noticed that Lowell tried to have Dehner on the ice when Nyquist was out there. Seemed to work, at least for last night.

They paid extra attention to Nyquist, they pounded him every chance they got and it worked well. Maine paid attention to protecting Wilson and it took them out of their game. I expect you'll see more of the same tonight.

It appeared to my buddy and me that Maine played hard for 5 or 6 minutes and that was it - slow-motion after that. And all those defensive-zone turnovers were a killer. :(

Re: HE Quarters: UML @ Maine

Quick mention on the handshake question; normally, in Hockey East, teams shake every night. This is different than other conferences; it was an issue when Colorado College was at the Whitt a few years ago; we beat them handily, and they skated off the ice, while UNH lined up for the handshake. The crowd booed, and the players looked really confused.

Their coach issued an apology the next day, saying he forgot they shake hands after every game, not every series like they do.

I don't know about the best of three thing; last night on the NESN broadcast, BU and 'Mack shook hands.

Maybe Whitehead was afraid of a handshake line brawl, as what happened in a UNH v UML game 4 years ago . . .

Well I'm about to head north. Get me some Maahhhgaaharita's and baby chimi's. Gonna need plenty of the 1st thing to deal with the end of the season 2nite! :o Who knows maybe I'll bring some luck w/me. :) Maybe I should bring some offense with me instead!

Re: HE Quarters: UML @ Maine

What was the attendance at the game last night? I think selling tickets for this at $15 was a great idea -- UNH's were still $24 . . .

It was ColCo, Wisco was only out for one game, and we beat THEM handily and they shook our hands, and got us back this year two fold ;)

Well Timmay worked his magic again last night.....for another L!!! How many streaks can Maine break while timmay is running the ship a ground!!! Just pathetic that they would re-new his contract, just goes to show even more why both James and him need to be fired, I am glad I didn't waste a plane ticket and miss a golfing weekend for this crap!!! :(
