HE Quarterfinals - #8 Maine @ #1 Lowell

Re: HE Quarterfinals - #8 Maine @ #1 Lowell

Tough draw for sure, UML didn't look good against Maine this year but by what measure are they the hottest team in the conference? 4-3-3 in their last 10 isn't exactly smokin. 3-1-2 in last 6 against also-rans Umass, NU and cold as ice NH is good but en fuego?

Four of those games were on olympic sheets which Maine always struggles with.

As far as Leen goes, Crohns disease is a very debilitating illness. It sucks the life out of you. How anyone could be a D1 athlete when in a flare is beyond me.
Wow, hadn't heard about the Crohns disease. Wish the best to the young man, that's terrible to hear.
Maine is going to win this series, probably in 3 tough games. Tough draw for Lowell to finally finish first and probably draw the hottest team in the conference.
Did someone from Lowell kick your puppy or something? You're always willing to dismiss anything they do. Fortunately for Lowell fans, you're pretty much always wrong when it comes to the Hawks as well.

Lowell will easily get beat by Miami -- wrong.
Lowell is not as talented as their fans thing and will finish 4th -- wrong.
You also posted something in one of the season ending series about Lowell probably losing both games -- wrong.

So please continue with how Lowell can't win.
Each game Maine played was with Carr in net. Carr is a solid goaltender, however lets see how they fair against Connor.
I think this might be a key component to what's going to happen this weekend.

Lowell's had a tough time with Maine, and most of these kids (strangely) don't even remember the curse of Maine for Lowell hockey.

Monty,

My personal Onion Man favorite from the original season thread:

"Seems pretty obvious that Wilson had a flash in the pan year as did the Lowell team last season. Too bad, I thought they could give the big boys in the East a run."

Re: HE Quarterfinals - #8 Maine @ #1 Lowell

This series is going to be a battle. Good luck to both teams.

Quick question on tickets. Are students on break this week? Just wondering whether will be able to walk up or should get them online? Noticed there were plenty of empty seats Friday vs. PC but also know Lowell has had some sell outs this season.

Lowell actually finished third in attendance overall in Hockey East. The crowd on Friday actually was pretty good considering that I know some people were afraid of driving.

School is on break though, so I'm also curious as to how the attendance will be.

I'd guess that many of the empty seats you saw were actually sold but people didn't come out because of the weather earlier in the day. I'd guess that walk-up would be fine for Thursday and probably fine for Friday as well but with (much?) less selection. Just keep in mind that the school and many fans will be doing their absolute best to sell out these games. Discount coupons are already distributed to some local businesses, for example.

My wife and I attended the Riverhawks Club skate at the Tsongas from 3:30-4:30 PM Friday and there were all of ten of us on the ice...the inclement weather put a damper on the entire day.

The Maine pregame party is at the Lowell Beer Works on Cabot Street on Thursday at 5PM. I was down there for the Lowell-Maine series in November and as I recall, there were two bars at essentially the same address, the Beer Works and the Brewery Exchange...one was good and one was bad. Which was the good one?

Beer Works is the good one. And it is the only one now; the other closed earlier in the hockey season.

Yup. See you there; feel free to say hello. I hope to be there by 4pm, not sure when Monty will arrive. We are usually at the bar, I'm blonde with glasses.

That's a shame but also not a shame, that was an awesome space. I don't know what its been like in the last few years, but cheesing customers isn't usually good business.

(C'mon beerworks, take over the space.)

He may not? All the drugs they give you do nothing but mask symptoms, some of the drugs can cause side affects that are no joke. Stress is a major factor with IBD, Diet can help but I guarantee you won't find a Gastro in Bangor area that will tell you that.

It is a horrible disease and it does suck the life out of you. But some of the new drugs do more than just mask the symptoms, they actually controll the level of inflamation, and therefore ease the symptoms, and if your lucky, instigate a remission. The problem becomes once Crohns decides to rear its ugly head in a flare, no drug seems to be able to controll it. Diet does little other than aggrevate the disease, kinda like throwing salt on the wound. Stress does play a major roll, but its not a direct cause and effect type of thing, but rather a general correlation. It is astounding this kid can even think about competing in a div. 1 coll hockey game.
