But, when Paul Pearl arrived with him he started to turn things around and even with Pearl not there anymore he has continued that success. Fact of the matter is Harvard gets the top talent of any ECAC program. Absolutely should not be getting embarrassed like this. So that alone falls on the coach. Just didn't have the pulse of his team as they were not ready to go from puck drop.

On coaching, I have never truly been a believer in Ted Donato. Just didn't have the pulse of his team as they were not ready to go from puck drop.
Surprised but not totally shocked. In the games I've watched H this season I thought their reputation was generous given how they have struggled to score at times like today. Announcers always raved about their personnel and speed but results weren't always that impressive. Cornell did the ECAC proud. Hopefully Q and Gate will be competitive so the ECAC can continue to get 3-4 teams in the tourney each year.
Agree on Donato, he has been there for 15 years, he recruits good players, and they just don't seem to make much of a splash. I always think Harvard, despite whatever their record is, is just not that good. Not sure why that is but that is my thought going into any game with Harvard.

Harvard felt small, lacking in strength and speed compared to O.S. Pushed around and out hustled. The quality of shots was much better and above all, Harvard lacks a next level defense.
Looking over the records of the Big 10 schools last year, I noted a lot of splitting of games between opponents. It's a strong conference.
Is it time to allow grad students players in the Ivy League via the Portal? Harvard has so many graduate schools (why not add a dual coaching/sports management one year degree at HBS and the Ed School?), that would help. It would also help to allow the teams to add 4 to 6 more games. Between that and NIL, you never know what could happen.

There's no way to sugarcoat it. OSU blew us out today. Dominated in every phase of the game. Can't remember an NCAA tournament game where we were this thoroughly overwhelmed. After the first few minutes, it was all OSU. They were well prepared and knew exactly what to do in exploiting Harvard's D. This was the one area where I feared Harvard would be at a severe disadvantage and sure enough, they got exposed big time.
Today's result was all the more surprising given that they played Michigan to a tie in November and pushed BU to OT in December. We should have won the Beanpot in OT and I don't think our size was the problem. We just never got into our skating game. And when we don't skate, we s#$K.
The Bruins have themselves a prospect and a half in Mason Lohrei. That kid can dominate a game at both ends. He may be ready for the pros next year.
We'll see who stays and who goes. I'm thinking Farrell stays but Coronato might jump ship for Calgary. Laferriere is anyone's guess. I don't see others leaving although with the transfer portal, you never know.

That was a complete dominate performance by OSU. Harvard just didn’t look ready to play this game. It happens, but this is a really unfortunate time for it to happen.

Gibson gave up a couple of softies today even though he had zero help the entire game. Yes he was under siege but I just saw the replay of all the goals in between periods of the Colgate Michigan game and there were a few there he could’ve stopped.
I can’t believe how unprepared Harvard was for this game. The coaches deserve a good chunk of the blame. Ohio State came in and knew exactly what to do to attack the Crimson. And Harvard had no answers as you point out. Unacceptable.

What happened to Harvard happened to Michigan much earlier in the season. And it took quite a few games to fully figure out what OSU was doing- we only really beat them two weeks ago in the B1G tournament. Those of the game your team and coaching staff should have watched to see what they would be facing and how to deal with it. I saw a breakdown of it, and even though I played as a kid, it's still hard to figure out the explanation and solution.
Not to tell you to not take it so hard, but OSU has a pretty amazing offensive system that just confounds the D, and makes them turn over the puck. And it does not take more than a handful of goals to really get to their mind.

I rarely agree with you, but credit for telling it as it is. It was so bad I actually felt sorry for Harvard, something I didn't believe possible. Remember it's just a game, not life.

Farrell is as good as gone too. I give Coronato a 0% chance of coming back and Farrell maybe a 5% chance. Both players dominated and have nothing left to prove. Both teams like them a lot and will want them signed. Laferriere is a toss up I'd say

I don't agree regarding Farrell and the reason I say that has to do with NESN's College Hockey Journal show on the Crimson. During one segment, Farrell talked about why he came to Harvard, and he mentioned academics was a priority for him and his parents. It's still possible that he leaves but I think it is far less likely than Coronato.
