Harvard Crimson 2014-2015: Restoring the Karma

Re: Harvard Crimson 2014-2015: Restoring the Karma

This is a huge get, but there have been many like this who have ended up pulling the MJ switch when all is said and done. That being said, the fact that someone from the Midwest with this pedigree is choosing Harvard is a big deal and great for the program. There will be others who give Harvard a good luck because of this.

I hope so. This kid sounds like the second coming of Neil Sheehy. And if that's the case, outstanding get.

Not for nothing but Angela Ruggiero who was recently elected to the Hockey HOF is from Grosse Pointe Farms Michigan although she played her prep hockey at Choate. And I get that at the time Eastern hockey was the place to be, if you wanted serious women's hockey.

I have close friends who live in Plymouth Michigan and I'm seeing one of them next week. I'll ask for some recon to get more info on the kid.

BTW, the Tampa Bay Lightning have been on a college signing spree inking Adam Wilcox from Minnesota and Michael Peca from Quinnipiac. They could have an all-ECAC line with Alex Killorn, Peca and Brian Hart. I know, I know, pie in the sky but what else am I going to do on a Friday afternoon in July?

More news from professional development camps. Jimmy Vesey and Tyler Moy are participating in the Nashville Preds camp - Moy was drafted in the sixth round and is attending his first camp. Ryan Donato is in the Bruins camp. From the ECAC, Rob O'Gara from Yale and Mike Vecchione from Union are in the Bruins camp as well.

It is a great article but it makes me wonder if the kid will spend four years in Cambridge. I don't see it. He already looks like he'll be ready to play in '17 and the pros will obviously notice and put on the hard court press. Here's hoping he ignores the noise and the $$$ and sticks around to play with what looks like some exciting players coming to town. Finally!

Harvard gets commit from RJ Murphy out of St Sebs. Great pick up.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2014-2015: Restoring the Karma

Harvard recruiting in spades right now. Just picked up commit from '98D out of Hotchkiss (Marshall Rifai) for 2018.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2014-2015: Restoring the Karma

Colin Blackwell returns as well. I will take a shot at constructing what I think will be the starting 19, barring injuries.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2014-2015: Restoring the Karma

This team is gonna score a TON of goals. It wasn't fun last year watching the Crimson punk BC with Kerfoot skating circles around them. I expect BC to be a better team this year, but it sure isn't going to be any easier playing Harvard this year. If someone steps up to take McNally's place and they can stay healthy, then the sky's the limit.

Re: Harvard Crimson 2014-2015: Restoring the Karma

Here is my best guess at the opening night starters:

Forwards:
Vesey - Kerfoot - Criscuolo (If healthy, this could be the best line in college hockey)
Esposito - Malone - Blackwell
Donato - Moy - Lloyd
Tringale - Ellis - Horton
Extras: Zerter-Gossage, Zielonka, Floodstrand, Gozzo, Caffrey

Defenseman:
Newell - Anderson
Sherman - Dombrovsky
Jaw - Bergin
Extras: Olson, Guiltinan, Baughman

Goalie: This is a crapshoot, but I expect Madsen & Lackey to platoon at first and see if someone emerges as the front-runner.

One of those extra D I think will take a regular turn before the season ends. Olson or Guiltinan would be my guess. I don't like Jaw back there. He lacks on ice vision and makes some terrible decisions in his own end. The goalie situation is really fuzzy because we know almost nothing about Madsen and Lackey is a freshman. We need one of those two to step up big time. We may struggle early on but I expect once January hits, we'll be a much better team.
