Stay safe everyone. Whatever you do today, just know that you aren't going to eat as much as Joey Chesstnut today.
Joey Chestnut lost today.
I refuse to believe that competitive eating is a real thing. I find the unabashed gluttony extremely disturbing.
I really love this country. I can't say that enough.
She ain't perfect but I'll be dammed if she isn't the classiest broad I know.![]()
The buns are what kill me. I could just about imagine eating 70 hot dogs, but I can barely imagine eating 20 buns, even if they are soaked in water.I don't find the amount as disgusting as how they do it. There's no way I could stomach a hot dog after dipping the bun into water.
I can eat 2 Chipotle burritos in one sitting, once tried a 48 oz steak challenge (w/mashed potatoes and Texas Toast sides; ended up 16 oz of steak short, overall), can eat a large Papa John's/Domino's/etc non-thin crust pizza in one sitting, etc.
I can't even fathom how those eaters do what they do. I'm 6'2" 160, btw.

I used to be able to down a double order (about 50) of hot wings at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo. Now I'm lucky if I can get through a dozen mild ones.
I've been to the Big Texan Steakhouse in Amarillo a few times in long ago travels. Couldn't get up the nerve to try the 72 OZ steak challenge, even in my skinny youth!
But his Ruthian record still stands. Nobody has broken 70 yet.
The steak ones are tough. It's like a giant brick in your stomach. I didn't want to move for the rest of the night after I tried the 48oz challenge.
