I found this over on the D-I board. It looks like Norm Bazin is leaving the Continentals to take over at UMass-Lowell.

Maybe this is Roll's opening to get back into D-III hockey?

I would have to say that Roll would be a front runner, not often that a coach with NCAA championship is available.
Roll never won a national championship.
No but he's been to one as a coach, and I don't remember 3rdliner actually using the word won an NCAA Championship as a coach and maybe he meant that he won an NCAA Div. 1 Championship as a player at Bowling Green under Jerry York.
who is Roll?
Dawes might consider this as they make no money at NU. Hard to live on 40K a year
seems to me Hamilton just went down the D1 road and it turned out to be a short term solution. Granted Norm did a great job, but it will be interesting to see what the administration thinks about D1 vs D3 this time around. at a school like Hamilton, or any other NESCAC for that matter, D1 does not necessarily = better. they are not only looking for a winner, but also someone that will mesh with the college and local communities and stick around for a while.
at the end of the day, Roll is unemployed. the others are not. that may work against him. these other guys want Hamilton because of the career opportunity and because they are hungry. Roll just needs a job, be it at Hamilton or elsewhere. think he'd be applying for this position if he were going back to Clarkson next year?
point of reference - this is not meant as a reflection on George or whether he would do a bang up job or not - i have every confidence he would be excellent. this was just a comment on what are the motivating / deciding factors for the selection committee will be. do they want to build a long lasting legacy with consistently good teams, or bring in a ringer every few years who has a few great seasons and moves on. i don't think there is a right or wrong answer, just speculating as to the type of candidate they will pursue...
I thought his latest group was doing well until they hit a wall at the end of the year. I thought he was going to get one more year.
Any details on coaching applicants? Heard several x-D1, several present D1 assistants and D3 HC applied but no real names circulating.
