Halloween, UNH vs. the 'Mack: A Whistling Turtleneck is NOT a Costume

Re: Halloween, UNH vs. the 'Mack: A Whistling Turtleneck is NOT a Costume

Figured it might be worthwhile to resurrect the "Whistling Turtleneck" thread for this coming weekend's rematch.

Lots of questions out there from a UNH perspective ... will Clark be healthy, and if so does he get the start? Which player(s) pay the price for last weekend's "pathetic" performance by spending the evening up in the stands? Will we hear from any of the coaches with their thoughts on their lost weekend in Lansing? Will the "checking first line" charade continue for another weekend? When will we be hearing about Coach Souza's first big recruiting haul? In returning to Merrimack ... is Coach Stewart having any second thoughts now?

I have a sneaking suspicion the 'Cats will hold on for a 3-3 tie and maintain their unbeaten HE record.

Re: Halloween, UNH vs. the 'Mack: A Whistling Turtleneck is NOT a Costume

My prediction: our success will be dependent on the effectiveness of our PP this weekend. As I noted in the season thread, I want to see Millsy (and other frosh and sophomores) on the PP while the first 'checking' line rests up on the bench to catch the Warriors napping on their return to 5 on 5.

Re: Halloween, UNH vs. the 'Mack: A Whistling Turtleneck is NOT a Costume

Glad you guys brought this back up; was wondering if we'd resurrect it!

UNH plays the best game of the young season but the Warriors won't lose twice to the 'Cats on their ice... MC 3 UNH 2

As a fan of course I want/expect the team to win but right now I'm looking for this team to bring it for 60, play some decent D. This is a good place to start. Onward 'Cats!

ps note to self: it's cold as heck in Lawlor and the music blares...dress warmly, bring ear plugs ;)

How in the world did we let this game thread slip to page 2? Bump.

Well...no idea. Not sure how I missed this myself! Thanks for posting it! Anyway...good to see we are gearing up for this one. Thanks for posting! Is it Saturday yet?? With no game Friday (why) we certainly should be ready to go. Or is not playing Friday a bad thing?

Question is...who's in net? Got my answer.... Clarky out a week, maybe 2, with the shoulder injury so it's DT. (Read it on the Union Leader along with the awesome story about Chris Miller..

ps...in a written blurb about the game with 'Mack it was mentioned that DT had a career high of saves in a period with 20 in the 2nd period, out of 36 overall. Shows to me he was able to do the best he could with a D that hopefully will be alot better this weekend. We'll see who skates out first Saturday...and whether or not the gang in front of said GK can clear the zone and give him a chance.

The element of surprise won't be there this time, so I guess we'll have to rely on home ice advantage. :D

Just like a few weeks ago, Merrimack has a Friday night game, while the Cats rest and prepare. Hopefully, that once again makes the difference...

And we come out blazin' like last time...scoring first in under 3 mins... Hey, it could happen!! Go 'Cats!

Re: Halloween, UNH vs. the 'Mack: A Whistling Turtleneck is NOT a Costume

Mac and UMass tied 2-2 in the third; maybe if they go two or three OTs, Cats will have advantage tomorrow night?

Haha wishful thinking and a great idea but I think 'Mac is going to take care of the Minutemen unless something happens in the last minute of play...

Edit: yep, they took care of Umass 4-2

Welp not much action on this game thread but I don't want to let Snively65 down :D

Heading down to the rink (notice I did not say...ARENA :p) later today after hubby's Robotics event ready to see the 'Cats break out of whatever funk we were in at MSU to deflate the Warriors after their win last night over UMass. Looking forward to seeing fellow 'Cat fans today after a week's hiatus. Not to look past this one but will be glad to come 'home' after what seems like a forever roadtrip.

OK 'Cats...you know what to do...BRING IT! 'Mack will be hungry to sweep their HE weekend..NOT at OUR expense!!

ps for anyone in the area early in the day BvR, Charlie Kelleher (CKells) and Liam Darcy are playing in games at Lawlor and Gullant rinks. BvR's and Liam D's game is at 2:00 ish (Gallant) , while CKells is at 4:20 (Lawlor) Dang can't make it but if you can you get a chance to see 3 of our recruits in action.

Yeah, this schedule must be giving some people jumbotron withdrawls

Re: Halloween, UNH vs. the 'Mack: A Whistling Turtleneck is NOT a Costume

Well, it's not the worst thing to be forced to pay attention to the game.

I think both Felger and myself are in agreement with you. Frankly, I can totally live without it.

Re: Halloween, UNH vs. the 'Mack: A Whistling Turtleneck is NOT a Costume
