Guns For Everyone!: Another Mass Shooting!

Re: Guns For Everyone!: Another Mass Shooting!

How about some sort of mental health training if you want to own a high capacity semi auto gun?

Sure, until you lose that desire you are deemed mentally unfit. We can call it gunhumper conversion therapy.

Re: Guns For Everyone!: Another Mass Shooting!

Such as doing what? Anything. Some idea is better than no idea.

5 round magazine limit, 1 shot per second. That's my idea, and I've proposed it for many years.

What's your idea?

If you don't know my ideas by now, after the many times I've posted them, then I don't know what to tell you. I won't waste my breath typing them all out again.

What you posted just suggests that we should do nothing about guns.

And since nobody has ever come up with ANY solution to mental illness, let alone a realistic one- all you are doing is saying that we do nothing. Just let people die.

Unless you have an actual proposal to stopping the violence.

My proposal continues to be limit the fire rate and limit the rounds in magazines- which will limit the opportunity to get rounds off, thus lowering the number of people dying. Other than some kind of minority report idea, I have no real idea how to address the mental illness. One can't sacrifice a persons other rights, too.

Every time someone does one of these mass shootings, people like you and brent always talk about the shooter not the gun, and have ZERO proposals to do anything about it. So come up with an idea for once. Don't just sand behind some saying, come up with something, even if it's not realistic.
Any actual evidence that either of these two shooters were mentally ill? Haven't seen any. Unless irrational hatred of other races is a mental illness.

Otherwise, this talk about mental illness is just another Republican red herring to distract from actually doing anything to solve the problem.

And if Trump is serious about helping treat mental illness, why has every budget he's ever proposed call for deep cuts in mental illness treatment? Why does he want to eliminate Obama care, which will allow individuals to receive the help they need?

You wanna start somewhere Joe, start there.

And this accomplishes what, exactly? You're on record as being against taking guns away from mentally incompetent people.

This. This is so true. republicans are smarter than we sometimes give them credit for. The only surefire way to eliminate needless firearm violence is to get rid of the firearms. "Mental health" is mostly just the magician distracting you with a wave of the hand or having you focus on the lovely assistant. If we got rid of these high capacity, rapid fire weapons of mass killing, I believe we see a large decrease in the numbers of these mass killings. But republicans don't care if you are safe. While they don't actively want mass killing to occur, they don't care if they do. They are willing to trade dozens of dead people so their constituents can continue to feel "tough." That's all this is. It is a conscious decision on the part of republican politicians.

Works for me:

Doctor: "Do want to own a high capacity semi auto gun?"

Fondler: "Yes."

Doctor: "You fail the mental health exam. Next!"

Re: Guns For Everyone!: Another Mass Shooting!

The Dayton shooter was a pro-Satan Bernie Bro who said he'd happily vote for Warren.

Who knows what these losers are really thinking once they decide to sling some lead?

That's why we need gun control and mental health reform.

We are kidding ourselves if we think we can crawl inside their minds and try to figure out their thinking.

The world we live in has changed. When I was growing up in the 60's and 70's, people for the most part were pretty isolated. Even if you lived in a big city, your experiences with other people were generally limited to your family, friends, neighbors, people at school or people at work. I certainly wouldn't be communicating daily with Cornell hockey fans and BU hockey fans and Michigan Tech hockey fans, etc...

If you had crazy ideas or thoughts running through your head about killing and violence and what not, there is a pretty good chance that you did not know of anyone else who was experiencing similar thoughts. I think in some small way that had the effect of suppressing action on those thoughts.

Today, everyone throughout the world is connected to one another. If you have moonbat crazy ideas running through your head, it is extraordinarily easy to find others having similar thoughts. That connectivity provides support. It suggests to you that maybe you aren't crazy, that maybe the actions you are thinking about should be acted upon.

I don't know. Maybe it's complete bs, but I have a feeling that news coverage we see from these tragedies and the reinforcement the killers get from others they've managed to connect with is playing some role here.

So how would have your idea impacted either shootings.

Given how fast both of them got rounds off and the police reacted- my concept would have greatly reduced the number of rounds gotten off. Which would have saved lives. That's pretty easy.

Hey, at least it's an idea. I didn't even ask for realistic ones. Just ideas.

But lets say that it can happen, would have either of the two shooters been ID'd before their rampage?

Again, my concept would have greatly reduced the number of rounds either one would have been able to get off, thus reducing the harm to people.

I think there is something to what you've posted. I don't know the extent, but I think there is some truth to it. Maybe a lot. Maybe less than a lot. But I too believe this stuff has played a part in the change. We have always been a nation of more guns than people. It isn't necessarily the number of guns, or high powered, rapid fire firearms. But because other things have changed, we probably need to get rid of the the weapons of mass killing.

I certainly didn't think of North Dakota hockey fans before I considered and passed on flight school :p (a decision I now kind of regret).

And I never would've gone to St. Cloud if college hockey wasn't a thing.

Re: Guns For Everyone!: Another Mass Shooting!

I see that Mexico is talking about a request to extradite the El Paso shooter and try him in Mexico because Mexican citizens were killed in the attack. Hmmm, a life sentence in a Mexican prison. There is some appeal to that as punishment for this guy.
