That isnt how it went...they got in her face at the vigil because of her comments "against" Omar. (which were we should be against Anti-Semitism very controversial I know and were not Islamaphobic, anti-Palestinian or even Anti-Omar Nancy Pelosi said worse) They said she "fanned the flames of Islamaphobia" which is nonsense. It was ridiculous and shows how out of touch the two students were. (and the Ultra Left in general) Ranks up there in stupidity with BLM protesting at a Bernie speech...

And of course her response was: “I’m so sorry that you feel that way, Certainly, it was never my intention. I do believe words matter. I believe we have to show solidarity.” Yeah really crying for help ;)

Nice try though...maybe stop getting your news Reddit ;) Never go full trix :p

I don't think vilifying the "Ultra Left" (What is that? Sounds like a toothpaste.) helps anybody or is relevant to this. I consider myself about as far left as you can be in America without going to jail, and I don't consider myself or my stances stupid.

I actually meant to put "College Left" but changed it last second. I hated people like that when I was in college and I hate them now. They attack to attack...and they dont care how foolish their comments are.

But the Ultra Left definitely has a problem these days whether you recognize it or not. They not only have an issue with message they also dont understand the optics of the moves they make. They are on the right side of the issue but they go about it the complete wrong way and the unintended consequences are often a disaster.

This. From what I know of the Chelsea situation, folks are going after her simply because she's a Clinton. I don't think she's uber-involved in any politics publicly, and I don't think she wants any sort of public life, but hey, she has famous parents.

She should be left alone.

She's not entirely out of politics. She's one of those Famous For Having Rich/Famous Parents But Now Playing Off That Fame people. What if Ivanka had 60 more points of IQ and was average?

So I'm not going to boo hoo about her. She married a quintessential political hack f-ckwit and she didn't mind posing as the Gen X Voice for her mother (insert laughter / tears here), so she's hardly running from the spotlight.

BTW, if you haven't already I highly recommend last weekend's Jon Oliver. His interview with Monica Lewinsky is fantastic. She really comes across as funny, sane, and interesting, and way more composed than I'll ever be.

I was at a convention a year ago and Monica was a speaker. Several of the people around me didn’t recognize her which I thought was interesting

When I saw Leno's comment about "everything's political now" I just about spit out my milk. What a maroon. Sounded like a 50's FBI agent talking about "this new threat called 'rock and roll'". :rolleyes:

Was it a really young crowd? I would expect most people over 30 to know who she is.

It's entirely possible that Kids Today have no idea who she is or what the "scandal" was. We think it was a big deal because we had to slog through the media sewage and our unfunny friends (and Leno) making repetitive, boring jokes about it. I'm sure my grandparents thought "Fatty Arbuckle" would be a hot topic for a million years.

Everything fades except Joan Fontaine.

I think that number's higher, now. Say, 40. If you are 35 your only connection with Lewinsky is your parents talked about it, which is my connection to Ed Sullivan. I don't give a sh-t about Ed Sullivan.

Part of our transience is what we think matters ceases to matter. Elvis doesn't matter to 30 year olds. The Beatles don't matter to 20 year olds. Kids born today will never give a sh-t about Kanye.

Not Biggie, though. Folks always gonna care about Biggie. Fight me.

It was a young crowd but some people over 40 didn’t recognize her when she was introduced as “Monica who was bullied”

She’s physically much more attractive now which I think is part of the reason the over 40 crowd didn’t immediately recognize her
