Maybe.
Or maybe dumpy fractures the entire party so much that they can't field a coherent bunch of people. Even better if they feel that they are so disenfranchised that they decide to not vote.
They won't fracture. Normal political parties build out from ideas and try to cobble together a coalition to gain power. They fracture or adhere based on the internal contradictions or coherence of all those moves.
The Right builds out from
power. That's their core: force. A punch to the face or a knife to the belly of someone weaker. Just as with their economics and their psychopathic god, they believe in inflicting pain. You can see it in their memes, hear it in their rhetoric, cringe from it in their "humor."
Everything else -- ideas, policies, moral standards -- is plastic and is warped towards the end of power.
The result is they continue to wield tremendous power. It works. The only thing to stop them would be their voters having had enough of the hypocrisy, and the lethal damage to the country and to themselves, to abandon them. But their voters are driven by fear and thirst for vengeance, and power gives them that. They vote for the agony of those they hate, and the Right can always deliver that -- they can always give a soldier or a cop or a white supremacist a more effective weapon, either literally or through the law.
We are dealing with mass mental illness. That isn't going anywhere, and neither is the Right.
