While it may be true that none of these perps ever really face justice, the crisis/embarrassment of the insurrection might help up force through laws to make this far less likely to happen in the future. We can also try to use this moment to cull the future growth of the Nazi Echo Chamber and maybe even roll it back.

We have to try. The only reason we ever got beyond the tyranny of Assyrian war lords, Judean priest-kings, and Medieval Lords was by all banding together and fighting the powerful.

According to CNN Palm Beach is going to challenge Trump moving to Mar-A-Lago since the agreement he signed in order to make it a social club back in the 90s said no one, even him, can stay there more than 21 days. (he has obviously done that) They don't want him there and if he tries they are going to fight it.

Also Atlanta prosecutor is looking into Trumps' phone call to Raffensberger.

Oh please.... The only thing this attempted coup made more likely is the next one succeeding. A congressional investigation will go nowhere. Any attempt to oust disloyal members will fall far short of succeeding because nearly half of the House members ARE disloyal. For fvcks sake, members flipped the middle finger at the metal detectors so they could take their guns places that you or I would be shot on the spot if we attempted access to. And we're WHITE.

I'm not saying we should give up. I just believe the likelihood of things changing like you think they might is about as tiny as the average IQ of most of the people at the riot.
 
I saw a tweet where a Native American lady is now calling the QAnon Shamon "Dances With Karens". Best laugh I have had in a while!

I'm talking about long term effects. Reforms rarely affect the current miscreants, they are always grandfathered out of compliance or accountability.

But we do make progress. Once state legislatures elected Senators but after a century of corruption we wrested that power and now directly elect them. Once the franchise was limited to property-holding free males. Now it is universal.

Progress is hard and takes a long time, but people make it happen. It has never been easy. The liberals who came before had to face beatings and shootings from government. These days we only face it from mobs of methamphetamarines. The subset of morons the powerful have to draw upon to keep themselves in power with screams of "TEH SOCIALISM!!11!" is shrinking.

Then again, I'm sure you only believe in "Law and Order" on TV and to those who don't look like you.

You should spend time in jail, although given how "smart" you are, I don't expect that you will learn the lesson that you broke the law.

Again, are you fvcking kidding me? Who was beating on the liberals at all the summer protests over police brutality and social injustice? IT WAS THE GOVERNMENT! The police initiated most of the violence we saw associated with those protests. Yes some things have changed and are better. Yes the trend over decades and centuries might be that we are becoming more open and tolerant. But right now is the time we need to give history a big shove to get it back on the right track. We're old enough to understand this analogy, but right now it is like a skipping record and we need to nudge the needle beyond the latest bad spot in the groove to continue the music. But the difference is if we don't nudge it we won't just keep hearing the same note over and over, we'll go backwards on the record.

What do you suggest? Armed insurrection? Because recent history isn't bearing that out as an effective method.
